I am so annoyed with myself. I was making Christmas presents to save money and I have broken my beloved Kitchen aid food processor. I put dates in, thinking they were stoned- they weren't. The blade sheared off and the plastic part that fits over the shaft now just won't move, and so I can't' get the bowl off. I have tied soaking it in oil and water but the bowl just leaks the water everywhere.
Does anyone please have any tips how to get it off? I rang customer services and they had no tips. If I can get it off I will save myself £55 plus parts for a repair. These money saving date truffles are going t be the most expensive Christmas present ever. I could just weep. Thanks.

Have you tried gripping it with pliers or an adjustable screwdriver and just twisting or tugging at it really hard like that? I sometimes find that the extra leverage this gives will loosen things which seem to be stuck completely fast.0

Loop of wire under what remains of the blade and sustained upwards pull? Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Bend an old spoon or fork to get a l shaped tool and gently lever off. Don't put too much pressure on as you may break the bowl.Stashbusting 2019 - 230/3000

When my Bread maker blade gets stuck,I loop a long shoe lace into a noose and slip it on under the blade. Then tighten and pull hard. Because the lace pulls on all parts of it and from underneath, it comes off.
Is the plastic part a screw on thing or just pushed on?
If it is melted on, it might be easier to carefully tighten some mole grips around it to try and break off the plastic. I'm assuming the shaft it is stuck on is metal though.0 -
It just sits on the metal shaft, usually just lifts off.
I know it's stupid but I'm just devastated I broke it. When my mum died I inherited a little bit of money- the kitchen aid processor was the only thing I bought for myself. We have had such a terrible year financially its just so ironic that I break one of my most treasured possessions trying to save money. I know bits just a 'thing' but I loved it...
Have tried everything so will have to go for the repair option. Thanks for the ideas.x0 -
Before you write it off, try putting the bowl into cold water and then pouring hot but not boiling water over the shaft, the idea is to keep the inside of the bowl hot and the outside of the bowl cold.
Try and pull the blade off the shaft after a few seconds.0 -
If it doesn't come out, you might find that when the dates have dried out (a couple of weeks?) they may shrink & it's possible that it would be easier to get out then.
I can't think of any other suggestions to add to the ones above, I'm afraid, but I hope you can manage to pull it free eventually.0
