Yes I am here! But missed a whole chunk of posts from before Christmas till New Years Eve. I hate to skip but I only took my iPad away with me up North for Christmas and hardly used it. Had a lovely time with family, Christmas Day at my niece's was lovely with her girls and all the family. Lovely day. Quiet day in at my sister's on Boxing Day and then family at her's the next day for dinner. Was fantastic to spend quality time with them and, as I say, hardly on my iPad at all

In the gap in the storms, I drove all the way from Newcastle to New Forest to visit the lads, stopping off for ten minutes at home to pick up a few things. We went to see The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug on Sunday evening and really enjoyed that. Watched in 3D for first time, wow . On Sunday, we met up with a couple of friends at Port Solent and they treated us to a lovely meal at P/Express. Lovely meal in great company.

Been quiet since, though we did drive down to Calshott beach on New Years Eve to watch all the fireworks on Isle of Wight, Southampton and Portsmouth. Going out to shops shortly as weather much better today after all the storms

So sorry to hear of your troubles scamps, but your good humour and the help of the elite will see you through this, I am sure

Savingbabs, sorry to hear of your burglary but glad you are all ok

Yippee to your good news thrifty :j

Sounds like you have had a wonderful time 3dogs x
Cherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.

Morning all. Been MIA for a few days. Got burgled in early hours New Year's Eve morning, came down at 4am and found window and back door open. They'd got window open and taken cash from mine and DD1 purses, my work phone and a NetBook, could have been so much worse! They walked past ipad and kids net books which are newer and had chargers with them

Just cross about Lappie as so much work on it, thank goodness have finished phd would have been stuck previously.

Police. We're here within 15 mins and sent forensics round at 9am for fling prints - was surprised but pleased.

Don't know if stand chance of getting back.

Belated happy new year to everyone

Thanks everyone for their thoughts. They could have taken cars as keys on side, so thank goodness for 'thick' burgalrs

Thank goodness you're all ok. When I read your second post it occurred to me that you may have disturbed them when you got up at 4am:eek::eek: That could be why the ipads, netbooks and car keys were still there cos they didn't have the time to look round more. Doesn't bear thinking about.
Hope the police catch the thieving gits!
Did the police give you any security advice? If not I think you can get them to come round, check your property and make recommendations on updating your security.

 The cheek! I'd be tempted to swap it for a non-reduced one when she wasn't looking so she gets a nasty surprise at the till :D

:T she would then query it at till. the sa would say “where did you get it from” reply “out of that woman's basket” :rotfl:

Both your comments made me laugh:rotfl::rotfl:, and putting an unreduced one in her trolley is a very good idea. I must remember that. I was so:eek::eek::eek::mad:at her cheek at the time that I didn't think of revenge type tactics. I will next time though:D

Morning all (well it's morning to me :D )
Gonna try and have a catch up tonight :)
Can't believe I managed a NSD yesterday  (does using a B&Q credit note and gift card count as spending? :D )

Yes I am afraid so, anything with a real value eg gift cards, APGs, BMs, credit notes etc count as real money just as if it was cash :j

But tomorrow is another day - I am teetering on the brink, one NSD yesterday - I could go to the post office this afternoon but its in a Spa so as its a local store I always feel obliged to spend something in there as well as the post office - supporting local businesses

Its knowing where your weak spots are and for me its anywhere with a reduced fridge :rotfl:
