Offer to relocate to Luxembourg

I've had an offer from my employer for a promotion that will see my relocate from the UK to Luxembourg.
I've been asked the question 'what package do you want?' with no indication whatsoever of what they want to offer (this could be because it's a specialised position they have not had before).
Just wondering if anyone on the forum has advice, both on what I should do in terms of asking for remuneration and if anyone has experience of relocating to Luxembourg?
Info: I'm 34, divorced. Currently earn £57,250 based in Cambridge, only 1.5% pension and no other real benefits)

Accommodation allowance, return flights, greater holiday allowance, cost of living allowance.
Do you have children?0 -
Yes - I have one son who I will be coming back to the UK every weekend to see. I've already built £7800 into the package for flights. (That's £7800 after tax).0

If you are his primary carer they may be willing to pay towards schooling fees, either boarding here or for him to reside with you in Luxembourg.0 -
No indication at all on what you want? Nothing comparable?
Is it a new venture? Is it worth making your exit strategy expensive to the company? Ie a guaranteed 6 months wage if made redundant or dismissed for anything not gross dismissal?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
You need to check out the tax system there, as you will be classed as a resident and therefore subject to income tax there if it's for more than 6 months. If the tax rate is onerous compared to here then you need to factor that into your salary expectations, and also check if company supplied accommodation is taxable there. Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............0

I've been to Luxembourg a few times as our sister company is over there. I've always stayed in hotels but I know that accommodation is very expensive and almost everyone who works there lives in France or Germany and drives in (they buy the petrol in Lux though as it's a lot cheaper!) You'll see the city is almost empty on weekends as loads leave on a Friday night.
I assume your company is on Avenue JFK as that's where most of the big companies seem to be based. If so try and get your company to pay for you to stay in the Sofitel, or failing that the Novetel. They are next to each other and are a 5 minute taxi ride to the business part of avenue JFK and about the same to the city and the Grund (the latter is where the good bars are)
Obviously if you've been before you probably know all this and I'm just teaching you to suck eggs!0 -

I was going to mention this. I have a relative who works in Belgium and I believe that the tax system there is far more punitive than ours.0
