Pwc's read this.

Options
ive waited a while to post this, for obvious reasons, but something happened about 3 months ago which i feel i need to warn people about, not going into every detail you never know whos reading. But if your a pwc with a new case, read this.

The csa take anything you say as fact until proved otherwise, There is something called a "right to be believed" which is drilled into every new caseworker, meaning, were not here to tell you your wrong, we listen to your evidence/facts, and make decisions on them.

a pwc 4 months ago made an application, after 3 weeks it was picked up and started, the pwc didn't give a whole lot of info on the nrp so we attempted to trace like usual, this didn't turn up any results so we made a call to the pwc, a pretty standard call, to ask for new information on her nrp, some pwcs reading this may have had similar, We knew where he worked, but the address they held was not confident during our traces, So we made the bog standard call to the pwc, since her app was 6 weeks old she may hold new info.

she informed us of an address, And when asked if she was confident, she was.

Now, since the nrp had not responded to his initial 3 calls to give info, we changed the address to the one the pwc gave, and sent all correspondence to this address including the MEF, which in turns sets the effective date, or more simply the date the money gets backdated to, we previously contacted his employed and had his wages, So we made an assessment based off these, all-tho it did take another 5 weeks as the wages sent were not reflective of his income, and since we give employers 7 days to come up with new ones, then another 7 when we issue a warning letter, and the fact the case was left, 5 weeks passed.

But the assessment was made, When the case came to me, it was ready for DEO, Meaning we had sent the following to the address, the intial MEF form, the warning letter, a "please contact us immediately" letter which shouldn't have been sent but was, the calculation letter, and finally the warning about the fact were going to implement a DEO letter.

He was never phoned apart from the initial 3 calls for his information.

When i got the case, i decided to call him as noone had tried for months, and he picked up, When we sorted security he had absolutely no idea of the claim, a common tactic nrps use when we first speak to them on the phone, this nrp gave a diffrent address from the one we had sent all the post to, and after 2 hours of checking and re-checking, he had never lived at the address the pwc gave, he had lived for years at the one he gave.

What does this mean? The case is null and void, we have to start EVERYTHING again. Meaning we need to send the initial forms to that nrp. Upon phoning the pwc, as you can imagine she was very upset and angry, she has lost out of over 4 months of maintenance because of one little statement on a phone call.

let this be a warning to anyone who is going to, or has a claim, never say you are confident of something unless your ABSOLUTELY sure, i do have sympathy for the pwc, but not to the extent i dont think its her fault entirely.

  • Ignore me if this sounds daft but.... does this work both ways? For instance if the NRP rang up would they also have this same right??
My ex (fair play to him im very shocked to say...) rang CSA up to inform them of new employment last friday. He told them how much he was earning and they said that although he gave them the info, because in the past he has been a bit "shifty"with them, they are going to contact his employer and do an IR check to confirm. The lady i spoke to said he had willingly paid over 400 as he knew he had arrears. But he also begged to pay by standing order......she said as he had previously been on DEO he wasn't allowed but if i was happy then DD could be arranged. Of course im happy with it. Im just wondering if everyone has the right to be believed why they dont accept how much he says he is earning? Im happy as my payments have gone from 100pw to 120....which his what he is offering. What if they check and its more? hmmm off on a tangent i know lol.

Can i add a thankyou to you and everyone else who works there, i cant imagine how hard it is to be impartial and deal with irate and disgruntled pwcs, nrps and partners. People moan but when you guys get it right, my gosh you get it right. I know a few on here have it rough and i feel for them. you do a difficult, controversial job but it makes a difference to peoples lives and the advice you personally dish out is invaluable....again thank you. Merry christmas CSAworker xxx

No, it absolutely does not go both ways. The right to be believed is for PWC's. I had a child in my care for a year along with numerous pieces of hard evidence to prove it but I was not to be believed. This led to me being denied my own right to a claim for child support and a case that is years later being investigated by the Parliamentary Ombudsman because the CSA do not accept any wrong doing on their part. So denying me my rights and treating me like a criminal under constant threat of legal action, for a year, is perfectly acceptable to reams of complaint handlers/managers at the CSA and the ICE ..... because I once got the labelled an NRP and as such - my own rights and dignity are denied.....an absolute disgrace and a farcical joke!

I hope you got some new glasses for Christmas CSAworkerx, take another look at that training manual, I am fairly confident that it will say " right to be belittled":rotfl:

Oh dear, how sad, never mind! Lets be honest here, I think we can all agree that over the next several years there will be mistake after mistake and the NRP will end up paying way over what they probably should have to, and the PWC will more than re-coup that 4 months maintenance. The NRP in your example appears so far to be compliant so there is plenty of time for him to be screwed over by the CSA, and I suppose if all else fails the CSA can always do what they did to me and let me carry on paying for 2 years after my liability ended!
  • CSAworker,We have found exactly the same as CSA survivor. We are having to fight for the right to be believed via our MP.It's very wrong to treat honest NRP's like this we shouldn't have to be doing this. The evidence should speak for its self!

As a nrpp we were not beleived , even though we had proof saying we were telling the truth! Both parents should have the right to beleived. We too went through our mp, and got no where, as the pwc will always be beleived, even the csa worker we spoke to on the phone told us that!!

I think this thread should be retitled 'NRP's read this' ....it might make them think, before they kill themselves...
  • I disputed nrp income and was told "he had a right to be believed" even tho it meant he was working 6/7 days a week for £145!!!
What about my child's "right" to a decent life like her father has??!!
  • I am a man who has played fair.Left the kids in the family home with a legal charge and money in the property so she could stay in family home, afford her mortgage and keep her job.She has tried to strip me financialy and take the lads from me playing mind games and feeding them lies. X is to move to Northwich and remarry leaving my 2 and her first son in the family home 40-45 miles away. I am told that the eldest lad who isnt blood related to me can apply for CSA to mind my lads.I have paid on time and done everything but have no legal right as to who is in charge of my boys.I am now in my 2nd tribunal after the X disputed dates I had had the lads.CSA believe every word she says but nothing I tell them.If I don't notify them I am in trouble. She doesnt notify CSA and gets off scott free.CSA lost all paperwork with dates on.CSA informed X all had been lost but never told me.I relocated 35 miles from family home and CSA never informed me that this stopped shared care. The judge told me in 1st tribunal.X is not deemed to affect shared care or status when she relocates.CSA is totally one sided and has constantly got the figures wrong.I've been off work for months and now gone back to work.ESA has stopped because I have signed off the sick but I am still billed CSA which now puts me in arrears. Both are DWP bodies,1 is billing me & the other wont pay me.I couldn't claim ESA until my salary stopped but it's not back dated the month that they wont pay me.I have everything to pay for the month with no income. This is not fair and no wonder the CSA DWP cause people to go under and commit suicide. It's all in the X's favour. There is no accountability for how she spends CSA money but 20% is taken straight of my salary with no consideration as to how I maintain a family life with my lads with no money.I was persecuted at the last tribunal lets see at this one.OH,the X gets family tax credits, family allowance and she is on a higher salary than I am. How is this fair? Can anyone help me out of a hole? You do it the right way and get penalised. I know this can work the other way round too. I have female friends with similar difficulties before anyone may think I am being sexist against females. It should be fair to all parties.
