HSBC Mortgage Offer expiry date??

Options
How long do HSBC give you to accept their mortgage offer?

I've read on this forum that its 4 weeks - but I've been given 2 weeks by HSBC.

11th December HSBC sent offer letter (not yet received).

18th/19th December - I requested HSBC resend documents
(kept telling me to give 7-10 working days)

21st Dec - HSBC letter came advising me I have until 25th December to get signed offer back to them.....else offer expires and I'm out of pocket for surveyors fees & mortgage fee

  • IMO it is the specific offer of whatever deal with HSBC that is time important.

I don't think they are pulling the rug from underneath you just this particular offer.

If you don't draw the funds then yes you will have wasted money or indeed if you pull out of this deal another might have a set up fee etc to take on.

They'll allow a period of grace to allow for Xmas post delays. Providing you put it back in the post before the 25th all should be ok.

have had my mum house sitting all week so she can call me to say post been delivered - been nipping home to check but no offer documents.....on Mon 16th dec did get letter dated 3rd dec returning original bank statements, payslips etc

so going by those time scales & peak xmas post activity not holding out much hope I'll receive before xmas.

have already asked them - they said can't email them to me....gave no reason...they just couldn't!

their reminder letter mentions logging onto hsbc mortgage application tracker system....but that part of their website isn't yet active....

i called their mortgage service centre this morning.....after some time they advised i could go into hsbc branch to get them to print offer document there....now they tell me at the 11th hour!

had to take the morning off work to go into their city centre branch to get document printed......signed & sent registerd post (the one which gets signature of recipient)...just hope someone at hsbc offices to receive it xmas eve

just for info ....the offer document wasn't in todays post either
