Here we go again....

You would think with the amount of condemnation they got from all sides last week, the amount of ridicule they got from one of their own going up in flames, AND the police having arrested suspects for last weeks bombing, they'd have got the message this sort of stuff is not going to be tolerated any more?

This sort of behaviour had never had much support and it never stopped anyone in the past, unfortunately the lack of support isn't going to stop them now

Yeah, this one was sparked off by someone noticing something suspicious and quite rightly reporting it.

What's sad about the incident though is that, six months ago, nobody would have worried about a similar situation and that's a reflection of how people have become more wary, even frightened, about the fresh bombing campaign.

How long before shoppers and shopkeepers relax again? How long before these eejits who are causing it are either caught or persuaded to end their pointless campaign? Because let's face it, it is pointless. The overwhelming majority of the Irish people, north and south, are for peace. No organisation which uses violence has any mandate from any of us. They're living in cloud cuckoo land if they think that anything they do will have any effect upon the will of the Irish electorate.

I know I'm preaching to the converted btw, I just wanted to get that off my chest.

I was on yesterday's lunchtime Enterprise from Central - we were sitting waiting in the station when a woman gets on, dumps a backpack behind some of the seats, and then gets off the train.

After a few minutes of us passengers sitting there thinking "did that really just happen?", I went and got one of the train staff, who informed me that it was actually the cleaner who had left her bag there. On speaking to the cleaner later, it turns out that ALL the train staff just leave their bags unattended in that spot.

Granted it was one of the trains that's crewed by staff from the South, but you really would think they would know better in the current climate...

Thanks for informing the world of that D.A.
(I'll not quote you in case you want to delete).

If anyone else has any other tips on how to place bags so they wont be given a moments notice...
    ...please keep them to yourselves.

I think you're maybe going over the top a wee bit there Joe. D.A.'s post illustrates both how blase we have become over security matters since the GFA and also how vigilant the general public have become, through necessity, over the past few months.

Personally I thank D.A. for doing the right thing and for telling us. Perhaps Translink and CIE will both take note and stop this practice, at least for the duration of the current scare.
