Home Care

Hi there I have a loan with the dreaded Welcome finance and it was taken out in 2002. I have heard about PPI and my account manager told me not to go through with claiming as they will just take an amount from what I owe. Besides this I have just been informed today that I pay home care and have done so since the start of the loan. Big surprise to me as I didn't know it existed nor that it was there. After enquiring what it was I've been informed that it's in case of burst pipes insurance ect. This is totally out of order as I didn't want, know or need it as I'm fully covered by my home and building insurance. Do I have the right to stop paying it as Welcome know this is a legal requirement of my mortgage that I have insurance cover for such.

Hi. I got all my PPI back from Welcome and they sent me a cheque. There was nothing to it. It was really easy. No arguments at all. The only difference to my account was that they reduced my payments by the amount of PPI which was previously included. Your account manager is definitely working in Welcome's interests in giving you that advice.
And I also found that I was paying for Homeserve (think that's probably the same as Homecare) but in my case I was also paying Homeserve directly, and it was also free with my home insurance so I was covered 3 times and yet they still wouldn't come out when I needed them! I cancelled two and kept the one which came as part of my insurance package.
