Call me a softy but I just loved this story. I hope we don't watch/read/hear about the usual stories in NI in early new year of animals being bought as Christmas presents ending up neglected.

I know what you mean. We're animal lovers. We put our money where our mouth is too. Just after 1st Jan this year we were shopping in a nearby town when a horribly bedraggled, skinny wee cat came out from under our car miaowing at us. She he been hurt on her chest and when my wife picked her up she clung to her.
We took her straight to the vet and then home with us where she's been ever since and she's now a lovely, confident (if a little quiet) loving cat.
Here she is. This picture was taken when she was still being nursed back to health. She looks even better now with a full growth of fur in the style of a Norwegian Forest Cat.
Cat lovers we may be but herself is out there every morning providing food on a table for the many wild birds who come to our garden. She's done this all our married life. When we lived in GB she also used to provide food for a family of hedgehogs who lived nearby, putting out cat food and cat milk for them every night. We used to get great pleasure watching them eat and run about the garden whilst sat in our conservatory.0 -

Thank you very much. We've had a wonderful time getting to know her while we nursed her back to health. One of the most difficult aspects of caring for her was getting her to realise what affection was. She was a very nervous cat. We don't know how long she was straying for but we've had her for 11 months now and we've just noticed recently that she seems to have turned a corner as regards affection. She readily accepts it now and comes looking for it. She's also much more playful than she was. She's one of two cats we have now. The other one has no story behind her. She's 13, came to us at 8 weeks and has been a delight since we got her.
We are passionate about animals, especially cats. That's very driven by my wife however. If it weren't for her I might be a little more indifferent, but still kind to animals.
