Kwik Fit £25 MOT Code from Warranty Direct

Hi All,

missed a bullet last year by not going with warranty direct. However, they're always trying to lure me back in with a voucher or a code. This week, they sent me one for a cheapo MOT at Kwik-fit, so I thought I would pop it on here for y'all to use!
Warranty Direct have managed to negotiate £30 off the standard MOT price to help cut your motoring costs.
All you have to do is book in at kwik-fit.com and enter special offer code WDMOT1106 towards the end of the booking process. This will entitle you to a reduced MOT Test fee of £25 rather than the statutory fee of around £55 – a 55% saving!
We will continue to inform you of further benefits as we develop them – improving your motoring experience and reducing your costs.

For goodness sake don't get taken in by this Kwik Fit 'offer'. You may save a few pounds on the MOT, but you'll have to pay out far, far more than that in repair costs to get a pass.

Check out their reputation for creating work for themselves online - you'll never go back! :)
  • The standard fee is £55 or so. An MOT now takes about an hour or just under which for a mechanics time is about £30 an hour.

A lot of "high st" national garages are under tight selling rules and will push extras. I found once that my car had "failed" and they had already quoted me in writing for the repair which they could do that day.

My advice is if you have the balls and the time contact your local government / council run department which deals with transport - ie council transport depot, ambulance depot etc etc as by law any place that does MOTs have to offer the service to the public for the standard fee £55 ish. A council MOT tester will not fail your vehicle on purpose as he won't have any benefit for doing so in the repair work.

Or... stick to a local garage. He may charge £30-£35 but that covers his time so no unnecessary extras to force on.

If it does fail take it away for a second opinion - don't agree to repairs on the spot. I have had cars where you get an "advisory" for something which I have left and then the next year its not even mentioned on the MOT.
