Getting in early today as this evening will be quite busy...

:www: MFW Wonderment: 1p into the Kitty Bank; meerkats are helping us see Star Wars again this evening :j; popping into town before the cinema to pick up my free O2 bits; OnePolled; sorting out box for Music Magpie after posting this. The eBaying shall have to wait for when we get back from holibobs, have suddenly realised it's swiftly approaching!

I cancelled the TV licence DD since it's paid up to July, frees up some extra cash for me at the moment, but I need to get going on current account switching/rewards (been too out of it due to health/work to do this with much aplomb in the past but times have changed!) so I'll probably restart it for one of those at some point.

:coffee: Simple Pleasures: cosy brushed cotton duvet cover; going to bed early to read a book; having a lovely range of teas to choose from. :)

:heartsmil Burow Building: glass & textiles taken to recycling. Did a little more Finding Of Forever Homes for items - house slowing getting into much better shape. Looking forward to going out tonight. :T

It was lovely, Apple. :) We tested out a new cinema (huge big seats that reclined and had foot rests!). We may go back. :D

Remembered to bring my own snacks as well. :money:

Work is such a rollercoaster.

Getting tired of hearing myself talk about this too, but am going to write it down to get my head clear on it...

Have been offered an extra task which I can mostly do from home, although means working loads of days on the trot (won't be happening til March either and is for a limited period). Would mean an extra £1k though, and it's seriously easy money considering the work.

It's a bit hard to follow Plan A (i.e. look for new job) if I sign up to this (wouldn't want to let people down last minute and wouldn't make this much money so easily elsewhere and from comfort of own sofa!).

It would sort of make up for reduced income in both Feb & March and means I still get loads of time off in Feb to get house (& other things) sorted/gather energy before Mad March shenanigans.

May also know more about changes within the company by then which might make staying a more viable option. (Though highly likely I'll still go and find something else anyway, but would still be good to know what the options are, out of pure nosiness).

Think I need to write out a very detailed pro/con list avec Alternate Plan Of Action. Am concerned about getting sucked into an abyss of work in March but very tempted by luxury of a very quiet February (with time to really ponder what I want to do work-wise in the longer term).

PS. All I ever wanted to to was work three normal-houred days a week! :rotfl: Don't know how I've gotten myself into this nonsense. :p

I don't think it would need to impact on your looking for other jobs. What is your notice period where you are? And if you did snaffle a new job in the meantime, wouldn't you be able to tell them your possible starting date, with that date being April?

Apologies if I amcompletely wrong! I have only ever worked in education where it is all simple and clear cut as regards leaving/starting!

If you do take it on, then please do ensure Feb is a relaxed month.

Or accept the drop in wages - or rather the not gaining extra - but work on getting fully fighting fit..

And, of course, feel free to blow me a raspberry and ignore!

  • :rotfl: No raspberries for you, Apple dearest ;)

I think you're right re: looking for jobs. My notice period is only basic/statutory (a week, if memory serves). I think I was worried as most jobs want you to start almost immediately (I'd still be getting a basic income-type job). But saying that, the job I had before this one took about six weeks to properly start so I suppose you never know!

Wish it was a more formal month-length notice at times, it'd definitely make life a little easier to navigate but I suppose being able to get out of somewhere quickly has its advantages!

It'd be mad to stop looking/applying, as I certainly don't owe current employers anything, but I don't want to stress myself out with loads of interviews/time-consuming applications when life is already a bit busy. If anything, it maybe helpful as I'd spend more time making sure it was something I definitely wanted to do? (easy to get sucked into 'anything will do' - a wide range of transferable skills isn't helping me as I do keep flip flopping over whether I should change job type).

(Sorry, this is probably all over the place - writing it out does help though :rotfl:)

I'm probably worrying about nothing. I'm sure it'll all be much more easy-going than I think. The March extra-task stuff won't be too bad either, as it's just data inputting and won't have any of the nonsense (read: people) that currently make things in the office a pain (only reason I've entertained taking on the extra work/hours!).

And yes, getting fighting fight is very much in my mind. Ultimately that'll help me work out what I want to do next i.e. keep part time work going or go and get myself educated...

I didn't get far with my pro/con list as I went straight to calculating the monies and I worked out that the Extra Task would make me as much as I loose over three months reduced hours. So the money stacks up really well. I don't feel like I'd have missed out by not having a more stable job during Feb/March, if you see what I mean.

I do wish the work/hours were more simple and clear cut! That was the idea when I took this on and it's been anything but. :p

Lol, work eh? The sooner I can make my fortune and saunter off towards the horizon the better. :p At least we've got our little holiday next week (next week! eek!) so I'll have some time to ponderate the future (10 hour flight ;)).

Good grief, my job doesn't warrant such lengthly posts! And random waffling/nonsensical ones at that!

    Back to normal service, methinks...

So flipping shocked about Alan Rickman. :( Bowie I could understand, not surprising in the least that he decided to change form. If you'd told me he'd decided to set up a colony in space, or had travelled back in time, I'd have thought 'yeah, I can believe it' but Colonel Brandon? Snape? Gone?! I was in no way prepared. :(

In happier news, doing really well on my step count at the mo! Finally got a weekly tally as high as my sep/aug ones (pre-hospital/surgery). Starting to feel like I can do more strenuous exercise again which is good, I'm desperate to get going again. Found some 1kg dumbbells in Aldee, granted not very heavy (Apple, I know you can lift one of those with just your little finger!) but they're probably weighty enough for me at the mo (still a bit of a post-surgery weakling).

:www: MFW Wonderment: leftovers for lunch; reviewed fresh stuff and will use that up (make veg soup/freeze things) before holiday. Put on super thick jumper instead of turning heating up - it's so flipping cold! Have also unearthed leg warmers and toasty warm welly socks. Read some finance blogs - education, education, education. :p

:coffee: Simple Pleasures: lovely two mile walk along the river today, wind was a tad bracing (those leg warmers came in handy!) but the sunlight and clouds were magnificent. Got some lovely snaps of the winter trees/swans swanning around.

:heartsmil Burrow Building: Christmas tree finally down (decs had been taken off but only managed to find time to disassemble it today ). Found a few more forever homes for items (foldaway bags now living in small hanging shelves that I managed to prop up in the hall cupboard).

  • Another busy day. Off to bed soon with my lovely book (By Hook or By Crook: A Journey In Search Of English - a charming and very interesting read!). But first...

:www: MFW Wonderment: totally lucked out and found a place to get my hair cut & coloured with a big discount (January is the time to do these things! Noticed quite a few offers once I started looking. Must remember for next year!). Chuffed it's done in time for my holiday (had left organising it til very last minute what with everything going on).

Found a few cheaply bits for Mr M's birthday while in town (huge choc Gruffalo from Thorntons for only £2!). Finally picked up my free cookie from O2.

Soooo close to getting a £20 voucher through BetterPoints.

:coffee: Simple Pleasures: swishing my new hair about. :rotfl: Sitting down and properly concentrating on a film (it was in French, so no choice but to look at the screen and pay attention!).

:heartsmil Burrow Building: popped out for dinner to celebrate the success of one of Mr M's projects. Not very MSE, but nice to go out together. Don't think it'll become too much of a regular occurance because it's reminded me why I don't like to eat huge, heavy meals. :p

Have been looking at lots of Before & After pics on the KonMari FB group. Feeling very inspired! Going to try and redo my tights drawer (and then everything else!) sharpish.
