3ds Games Prices at Game Store

Bit perplexed...can anyone shed some light?
I went to Braehead shopping centre last night and went into Game to buy Mario 3d World for the Nintendo 3DS.
Found one on the shelf, great, took it to the counter to pay and was told it was out of stock. It didnt have a price on it so I asked the price, they said if they had it in it would have been £24.99 for brand new, about half that for pre-owned. Brilliant, I thought. But they had no stock in either pre-owned or new.
So, they called another store for me, Game at Glasgow Fort. I toddle up the M8 in gale force winds to pick this game up.
Turns out when I get there, the one they had held back for me was pre-owned. Which I didnt mind at all, but they charged me £24.99 for it!! When I queried this with 3 different members of staff none of them seemed to have a clue what I was talking about. The last person I spoke to told me it must have been on special offer at the Braehead store, but this pre-owned one was scanning at £24.99 so I would have to pay it if I wanted it, and it was the only one they had, so couldnt scan a brand new one to check the price of that! Then refused to call the Braehead store as the phones had by this point been taken off the hook because the store was so busy!
I bought it because well its so close to Christmas and I didnt know if I would get one anywhere else! Plus the shop was busy I'd been in there for like 45 minutes bad weather etc I just wanted the game and to get home!
Is it just me or is that a bit out of order?! Paying the same price for a pre-owned game as a brand new one?

This is unforetunately absolutely typical of Game, but they did offer it and you did accept..."Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good Luck" - The Doctor.0

Yeah I did. I dont mind paying it, OH wants it for Christmas so I was going to get it either way, just thought it a bit unfair and wanted to see if this was the norm in game buying.
Think I'll try and get his games elsewhere in future though if I can0 -
Best to order online in future, more likely to get better deals and you can see straight away if any stock in.0

Agreed.
I wanted Pokemon X but didn't want to pay nearly £40 for it in the shop. Looked online and pre-owned version was about £29. I have a Game Reward card, which had about £3 on it. In the end, I paid about £26 for it.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
50p saver #40 £20 banked
Virtual sealed pot #178 £80.250
