    I've been Money Tipped!
count me in! I use freecycle for giving and receiving things - i had a lovely microwave just before xmas. also, I buy all mags through cheap online subs eg 6 for a quid, i've had the radio times 12 for a pound several times; or i use tesco clubcard to buy them. this is useful for gifts for relatives.

i save up my survey luncheon vouchers and spent them at christmas - we struggled round waitrose 4pm christmas eve and spent 24p in cash!!! yet we had a free range chicken, 12 cream cakes, 10p bread, 20p carrots etc etc. then sat drinking free coffee, reading the free paper watching the fun!!

i'm on economy 7 so all washing, tumble drying is done early morning - as are showers if possible!!

most presents are bought through amazon using amazon vouchers from surveys or online paid chats. this year also had £200 m and s vouchers - half from the m and s bank account deal (and lots of free coffees and cakes) and half from the life insurance deal on topcashback (another source of free cash).

this year I intend to clear cupboards/freezers of food and cycle more. also moneysaving is a big help and must have saved me hundreds and hundreds over the years! thanks Martin!!

    good luck all!

My mission this yr is need not want. When I look around the house at things we have bought in the past it irritates me. But at least I'm not been wasteful now! I do onlins shopping using a meal plan for the week. Its great because I always check my basket before I checkout. This way I'm not tempted and can remove unwanted items. I really, really need a new bathroom do I am saving for that. Also to make sure we always have a holiday we camp. An 8 night holiday is costing 140 pounds. So for those of you who want a cheap holiday maybe try it.

ah i know i wrote a cheap holiday but cheap holidays will never be cheap enough. its a nice thought to have and its been 4 years since i had one. havent had one with my bf and we are nearly 3 years. but as we both need new passports, spending money etc that will be the bottom of the list. if possible i have an auntie we could stay with in jersey. maybe make that a 6 month reward depending on how well i do with my cc payments.

I saw an advert for a certain daily newspaper yesterday, saying the £9:50 holiday offers are coming around again--could be tomorrow, I missed that bit--so you could maybe consider one of those? We've been on a few & they are very good value, as you stay in the exact same accommodation as if you had booked through a travel agent or something, & have access to all the amenities as the 'proper' holidaymakers do :j
Plus they now do euro-camps & stuff, so for the cost of a newspaper for around 12 days + £9:50 pp, keep a look on the front page of the good-afternoon-smiley-emoticon.gif
I think other papers do something similar, but I've not tried those :)

  • Thanks bigmumma, I actually forgot about that. Its usually me that deals with all the money - he thinks im a stress head until hes given the opportunity to do it then he freaks out and its back to me! I dont really mind as hes the homely one. But maybe I should task him with this one challenge!

I've also bought all my Christmas cards, wrapping paper etc in the sales. Picked up some family gifts from Boots and Superdrug sales and have put them away for next Christmas. The boots items I paid with with my points :)

I've started my £1 a day box already, recycled a Pringles tub, superglued the lid and covered it in spare bit of wrapping paper. This one is for Christmas next year.
When the next tube is finished I'll do the same, and plan to put £5 in one and £1 in another, one for a possible holiday.

I'm also going to look into the Tesco stamps saving scheme. Thinking of doing 3 cards, one for myself, one for my sister and one for my mum, which will be £3 a week, then come December that will be £50 off the Christmas Shopping.

AM thinking about the Park Scheme, don't know much about that so have to do a bit more research on it first.

Am now off to cancel my mobile phone insurance, which will save me £10 a month, and off to take advantage of the Ebay free listing event, so am about to list a load of items on there. I've a busy weekend ahead lol. But I look forward to looking at this thread to see where else I can save money :)

I was introduced to the Park Scheme two years ago - best thing I did. I pick all the gift vouchers i'd like - i did a range of them this year, Love 2 shop, iTunes (gift cards for nieces) toys r us (for youngest) M&S and Amazon. We spent NOTHING other than this this year - had £360 of vouchers sent to us 3 weeks before Christmas - GREAT! and paid around £29 per month all year - already signed up for next year - would recommend it!

    Morning all,

It's worthwhile looking at the Sun news paper website to sign up for a trial membership.

For a trial price of £1 they give you a selection of £10 vouchers to chose from such as Morrisons, Superdrug and a couple of others I believe...

Only downside is that your account has to remain active for 7 days before cancelling it or they won't send the voucher which they send after 28 days - you get an email confirming all this.

Honestly, I think the site is rubbish but for a £9 profit then it's worth a punt :) hope this helps someone!

that's a brill idea... a pound a day. I am going to start it. a bit late but hey! still got plenty of time left.
I am a member of the Tesco clubcard xmas saver club. they save your vouchers all year and then I get them beginning of November. I doubled them up and got £172 of stuff for £3.60!! aiming to do the same this year.

    Never too late IMO lol.
I have to say the £1 a day is great, you don't notice it at all. I am running 3 tubs, have just emptied one of them and added £7 to it to make £60 Am planning to use it to help pay off my credit card. So I've decided every 2 months I'll empty this one and that's £60 extra paid off it ontop of what I usually pay off it until the card is cleared. Fingers crossed it won't take that long now :)
The 2nd tub is for Christmas presents, and the 3rd I'm going to run til the end of next year and hopefully I'll be able to get a few weekends away crossed off my list.

I'm still doing the Tesco savings card. I'm having to do it every 2 weeks, as the store I go to isn't very good at putting stamps in it when they run out:mad:

And I've bought a few extra Christmas Presents when Claire's accessories had their sale on. A few hats and gloves that my girls wanted were £20 down to £4 so that's that started. And my nieces started also:T

I'll have to remember about doubling the Tesco vouchers up though, never thought of that!
