Venue Communication Issue

Options
Hi all

We booked our wedding (whole thing from service, to wedding breakfast, to reception) in August to have it all at the same place - a hotel which is part of a small chain up North.

I'm getting really stressed out with the lack of contact from the Hotel, since we signed a contract and put down the first sum of money, they seem to have stopped replying to emails or calling me back when they say they will! And when I call to complain, they lie about the excuses and each member of staff I speak to seems to contradict the person I spoke to before (found out today our wedding co-ordinator is off sick as she's had an operation that's taking longer to recover from than she thought - last week they told us she was on Holiday!!!!)

Although I have finally got the Hotel to send me the menus so that we can send food options out with our invites, it's really stressing me out - the big day is 8 months away however I'm scared that if they are being this poor now what if it continues and I end up a wreck on my wedding day?

What would you do? Even though we are in a contract, I think if we stomped our feet about how they've treat us we would be able to pull out however the good thing about this venue is that they're offering a great package for a reasonable price (all in for 74 day guests and about 110 night guests is £4000)...

  • They aren't by any chance near Lancaster are they? Just my venue is that way and been having problems with them
  • Hi Steph

No they're not, they're West Yorkshire way. Are you experiencing similar types of issues? It's just so frustrating, wedding planning can be stressful enough without the venue not playing ball!
  • Oh yeah, when we went to our venue first two years ago we was told we could have 60 day guests 100 evening guests. In October I contacted the venue to sort out a few details the wedding planner I booked with had left, no one had told me they also hadn't told me that they could then only fit 50 people in not 60 they also wanted to charge me an extra £600 for having less guests so I had a right go at them emailed the CEO a very long email.

They dropped the price by £700 in the end because I let rip at them.

So if you really are p!ssed off with them I suggest emailing the CEO of the chain and see if they can help

Why not write a letter & post is registered post to the general manager, and clearly list your concerns, and ask for a response within 14 days of the date of your letter. Then you will have proof of receipt and you'll have given them a reasonable time to address and respond to your concerns. Then if you don't have a response, copy that letter to the CEO.
  • I had so many issues with communication with my venue, however I must say on the day (in fact even in the few days leading up to the big day) they were excellent.
Hope this reassures you a little.
To them when you're day is still months away they just aren't bothered they have other people's wedddings sooner so you're just not a priority, this would get me really upset as they'd taken my money and there was info I needed and things I needed to discuss. I spent a lot of time having issues with them and trying to resolve things that had changed or I'd been told wrongly about. However on the day itself they were fab. So try not to worry too much, if it is an established wedding venue check with past brides for feedback and I imagine you will be reassured.
