Self Assessment Help - Mileage Allowance

I have again left my Self Assessment to the last minute and i am struggling to remember what i have done the previous times to work out my tax. I am an employee and have my PAYE / P60 to hand.... Where I am struggling is with what I am entitled to enter for the mileage i have done for work.

I didnt a total of 22,231 miles and claimed £5,197.15 back... so to get the figure that I am claiming relief from do i work it out like this..

Mileage Relief
10,000 x £0.45 = £4,500
12,321 x £0.25 = £3,080.25
Total: £7,580.25

Paid by Employer: £5,197.15 - £7,580.25 = £2,383.10 Amount I can claim relief from?

Does this then go into "Expenses payments received and balancing charges" or into "Business travel and subsistence expenses"?

Lastly it asking if I have overpaid or underpaid tax.... without phoning a tax advisor how can I possibly work this out??

Pfftt.. I hate these bloody tax returns!

You could always look at last years return.
I can't see where it is asking you if you have overpaid tax and it is NOT asking you if you have underpaid tax.
First read what you are being asked for then ask questions
The only thing that is constant is change.

You put the DIFFERENCE only in the box that you have mentioned.

It asks if you have underpayments from earlier years in your code number. If you have none, leave it blank.
