Haven't been here for awhile.
Has anybody heard of cougar financial services , they are currently hassling me for debt that I have with cap 1 . I owe them 1200 and because I missed two payments I went into default they then passed it onto cats who have been blinding me no stop requesting I speak to them despite me telling them that I prefer to do all in writing as suffering from depression and do not feel I could cope with telephone conversation as I no they would force me to pay more than I can afford. Have offered to pay £70 per month which they said wasn't enough even though the cashed the amount I sent at the beginning of Dec. They then sent me a standing order form which I have filled in and sent back over a week ago. Now the phone calls have started again and a letter saying they are going to take me to court if I do not pay up. I'm now at my wits end and don't no what to do. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Do you have any other debts, or is it just the Capital 1? You would do well to speak to someone like National Debtline or Step Change as they would be able to assist or advise you the best.0

Was it a Standing Order or a Direct Debit? You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0

I would tell them to get on with it, they wont get anything near £70 a month out of a district judge,
£1 a month is more likely.
They usually have to grant it, but punish those that refuse good offers.Be happy...;)0 -
Write back to them informing them that they're breaching at least a couple of the OFT's debt collection guidelines and that you can't afford any more money at the moment.
"3.3k. ignoring or disregarding debtors' reasonable requests in respect of when, where and how to contact them
3.7i. pressurising debtors to pay more than they can reasonably afford without experiencing undue difficulty"

It was a standing order0

Cancel the current standing order and offer £1 per month. Next time they call have a whistle at hand to deliver your response to their threatening phone calls. Worked for my friend being hassled by some bcw scum...lol last seen at the ENT dept. at local hospital.0

Why anyone would whistle down a phone is beyond me.0
