Recruitment Agency

Hi

I have an appointment with agency tomorrow.

Would I wear casual clothes or a suit?

Thank You

  • What I'd wear as smart to work has always been ok for me it is only form filling if registering, only one occasion it was specifically emphasised beforehand to dress for interview as I was possibly being sent straight to the employer after the agency - most agencies I've been out in 5-10 mins : )

You have never had a full interview at an agency? I have been in most for at least 40 mins.

  • I would always treat time at agencies as I would interviews with the regards to dress code. The person you are seeing will want to get an impression of how you would look / come across if they put you forward for a role they are advertising. If you go in wearing shorts and a ripped shirt they might not want to promote you to potential clients they have.

Most agencies I have registered with never require a full interview to register with them, they only want details and give you details about the employer and what the job entails.
  • It depends on the types of role you are applying for. I would suggest a suit, or at least smart trousers, shirt and tie - you definitely want to steer clear of jeans and t-shirts!

back in the days when I was young.. and many of you still at school.. I went for my first meeting with an agency to sign up..

the interviewer.. spent the first half an hour criticising my choice of suit.. said it was two casual.. to "sharp".. not business like.. etc.. (I think he was having a bad day....)

got my own back a few years later when he was looking for a job and came for interview with me.. lol... Although not sure he had remembered me.. I had not forgot him...

  • ALWAYS a suit if you have one. Why take the risk that someone will pre-judge you on the basis of scruffy apperance? Always minimise any risk on presentation and wear a suit and focus on delivering a good interview.
