Anyone watch it, I've been asked to make a cake for Sunday, I gotta try Toms orange cake. I made his chocolate cake from his last series, it was fab!!!
I'm trying to only buy cook books I really really need/want, I think I've got to buy his!!!
Disapointed that only 3 recipe's are published, its not as if they are part of a book & only want to give you a "taste".

I bought it good pub grub book and to be honest it's really fancy food nothing you would really find in a pub I was a bit disappointed in it.

I watched the series, I know what you mean, but some of the recipes looked doable & sensible. His pub isnt your average pub grub though is it!0 -
Just watched it - not a fan of the bloke; seems very false, laughing over the noise a squeezy bottle makes?? What is he 4 or something?
Turkey roll looked dry as a witches wotsit. Polishing the carrots with a scourer?
S'pose life can't be bad for him though, BBC paying him megabucks and plugging his book as well. Must be Lush...
Now get me a sick bucket.0 -
Crikey, I must have watched a different programme to you lot :rotfl:.
I made the stuffing on Fri night and it was 'proper lush'
, and as that is what is in the turkey roll I'd think it would keep it really moist.
The carrots hardened the arteries and brought on Type 2 diabetes (1/2lb butter & 5oz sugar ) but tasted lovely :T. I did draw the line at the scourer (had a go then decided life was too short
).
I've seen Tom in a lot of programmes and always thought him a genuine, enthusiastic guy. He can pop round and roll my turkey any time
. A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I don't think that's entirely true, it's just pub dependent. I'd say the majority of recipes in the book could be found in pubs near where I live... same can't be said for where I work.Despite the name, I'm actually a laydee!0 -

Charming! Some people like good food.Despite the name, I'm actually a laydee!0 -
I made the spiced orange cake, the one where you boil & then pur!e 3 whole oranges.
It was odd!!! Odd texture.
I guess cakes without flour & butter (or oil) are unusual, but I didn't like the texture & I won't make it again.0 -
I watch this after Chris Evans was raving about him on the radio the other morning. To be honest I didnt gel with him as a presenter although he seemed harmless enough (apart from the squeezy bottle thing ... that just turned my stomach! I hate crudeness)
I plan to give the stuffing and topping a go along with the orange cake and Xmas pudding ice cream but not sure about the carrots unless I cook them tomorrow
Ant. :cool:0 -
Hey guys, I made the orange cake and plum sauce at the weekend and they were lush. Served it with plain vanilla ice-cream as we all hate Christmas pud. My boys liked it so much it's on the menu on Christmas day
