Hi everyone,
Please forgive me if this has already been asked, but I have received numerous calls from a recorded message saying that a new law has come into effect that allows you to have 70% of debts written off.
Does anyone know if this is true or is it a scam?
Thank you

Unless someone has planted a money tree I would say that this sounds highly unlikely.0

This will be another bunch of shysters masquerading as Insolvency experts trying to flog dodgy IVAs by using current regulations.Hi everyone,

Thanks - thought it sounded too good to be true0

If they refer to IVAs, then they are from the Insolvency Act 1986. Not exactly "new". :rotfl:
A company that feels the need to get business by calling like this is not going to give you good advice. They are looking to either con you, or hook you into something that serves their needs in very very fat fees.
Please talk to organisations on this list: IMPORTANT - Where to seek professional impartial advice about your debts.
If some sort of formal debt solution is appropriate, then they should suggest it and help you do it without you being ripped off.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Companies that do this will tell you all sorts of things, but you will have to pay them to see if it's actually true.
As Dirty Harry used to say; "Do ya feel lucky?""There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Hi,
Just wanted to echo the above... I was recently contacted by a company called Trust Money who called me from a local number and told me that they would put me on a new government scheme called an IVA and that they would only need £70 per month to pay off all my remaining debt over the next few years...
They went on to explain that so called "debt charities" were rip off merchants working for my creditors, etc so I reported them :-)
Do not trust them, just hang up!
