When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:
Morning :wave: & Happy Tuesday to you all. Thanks for your kind wishes & thoughts Ziggy & foxgloves :A Hurrah to it being Tuesday as am at an all day meeting today, busy but makes the day speed by and am off on Friday so today is my hump day :j
Things for today:
* [STRIKE]checked banking[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]need to transfer £20 out of joint into personal account[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]transfer cash from savings into personal account for car repairs[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]book eye test for Friday[/STRIKE]
* all meals from stores
* get bread out of freezer in garage to make sandwich
* hang up washing
* clean up toilet sitting in spare room as it is being collected today :T (bought because I bought our current toilet online and they sent me the wrong parts so needed another for 2 weeks:mad: made a substantial loss but at least it's sold and out of our spare room!)
* take down bed from spare room & clear it out for carpet being fitted tomorrow :j
* quick bath
* purchase birthday card for dd and post
* buy stamp and post card to ds
* swap onesie for a bigger size
* text car mechanic and see if he'll come and view a car I have seen with me
* cancel going to a carol service tonight because I have so much to do!
Ok that'll do me. Hopefully the day will speed by
Have a great day everyone x
Sparklyshar good luck with the interview x

Morning Money savers,
Bright sunny day. Had brisk walk to postbox first thing to blow away the cobwebs.
Today's small things:
-Laundry done overnight on Economy 7 tariff, 30 deg. Done.
-All drying on heated airer, as cheaper to run than cranking up the upstairs radiators. Done.
-Hot bath water recycled for a bit of handwashing, which I just spun, so a bit of energy saved there. Done.
-Hot kettle water being saved in flask for next drink. Ongoing.
-Make Christmas cake. Done......just about to come out of the oven.
-Cut greenery for making Christmas wreath. Done. Now hanging on front door (Paid £8.50 for one last year which was daft as I have holly/ivy/conifer bits growing in garden plus wire, box of fir cones & 99p Shop wired ribbon. Never made one before, but am really pleased with it & as I saved the inner ring from the one I bought last year, it was FREE.....our favourite 4-lettered word, lol) Done.
-Finish knitting Christmas Present no.8. Yes, I know, this has been on my list for ages & it still isn't finished. Problem is, it's for mr f, & I can only knit it when he's not around. He should have been off work this afternoon but has decided he needs to go in, so I'm going to catch up on 1 or 2 tv progs & knit like mad. Then I've got about a billion loose ends to darn in........
-Check for surveys. Do as many as I can stand. Done.
-Give some cards to mr f to pop through doors while he's up in the north of the county, rather than pay postage (£1-50 saved). Done.
-Meals as per meal plans - mr f's cooking night. Veggie spaghetti Bolognese. Still clearing space in freezer for Christmas baking....so that's one container of tomatoes out, plus some soup for lunch. Got to think ahead to doing rubber turkey....... :-)
Well, as usual, Christmas cake needs extra time in the oven, so will clear a few more emails, then test it again. Have a good day, everyone.
foxgloves x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Hi all
Just watching Prancer returns on tv. Just thinking, I was going to buy that DVD a few days ago.
Have written on my 1 Christmas card to be posted today, last day of 2nd class post.
Taken puppy for a walk.
I did several surveys last night on the desk top computer. They do not seem to like my mini ipad.
not much news...The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
Morning lovelies
,
On this slightly chilly but beautiful Tuesday I'm:
1. Here, keeping my mind on the game and on my money.
2. Cooked all food for today.
3. Going to take the dog for a walk.
4. Meditated.
5. Practised my guitar.
6. Checked my accounts against my budget spreadsheet and all is good.
7. Hoping to donate a turkey my husband got as a christmas gift to a local charity (we dont have an oven, and are pretty much vegetarians anyway, so its useless for us).
8. Looking after my teeth.
9. Having another spend free day - love those.
10. Have christmas completely in the bag bar food shopping.
11. Got my grocery list ready.
12. Going to look for some cheap vege dishes to expand the menu
13. Getting my calendar organised for next year.
I think thats about it. Have a great tuesday everyone.Debt as of March 2018, £794 rent arrears £4273.7 debt, £900.70 in pay day loans, total £5968.40 :eek:. Total debt today £5968.40

Afternoon! After waking up feeling miserable I have made some progress.
1. Closed my Next account as never used it.
2. Closed my CC as I paid it off.
3. Made granola as it's cheaper cos I don't like dried friut and the ones without cost a fortune.
4. Opened another online saver so now have 4 online "pots of money"
That's it for today!Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Hi everyone,
Thanks for starting us off DNMS, it's my hump day as well!
Today's plan:-
- Making use of free water & food at work - it's our Christmas buffet today so there's loads of food available! My contribution was a cake, which turned out alright I think

- Staying in for most of my lunch break to avoid spending but popped to pick up a couple of bits, less than £10 spent
- Dinner from meal plan - Macaroni Peas
- Charging phone at work
- Check online banking
- Enter some comps
- Do some surveys
- Declutter & flylady
- Heating on low, fleecey dressing gowns on
- Debate applying for another job (less money, more interesting work though)
- Continue with the DIY this evening
- Post xmas cards with 2nd class stamps
- Go to Sainsbugs after work & stick to list, go to prepaid pole class afterwards to save petrol
- Enter a few more comps
:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57 :eek:
:dance:Current Debt: £0 :j
100% paid off!
:think: Savings Goal for November 2016: £5000 :cool:
Current Savings: £1176.24 _party_
