update caution to my employer and FSA

Hi,
I unfortunately received a caution recently, about some silly things that I have done. Do i need to inform my current employer-an investment bank, and do I need to update FSA about this?

many thanks for your help

    yes .
If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague
  • thanks for the prompt reply. If i dont declare it, would they know about it? If i declare it, what would they do to me?

You presumably work in a regulated role - you should be well aware of your obligations and the potential repercussions of not fulfilling them.
  • surely it is regulated role, but the nature of the caution has nothing to do with my job, my question should be: is it an obligation to update the firm about my caution, even the police said I do not have to, and is it an obligation to update FSA?

I think you have to inform the FSA - www.fca.org.uk/your-fca/documents/disclosing-convictions-s178 and as such you would also need to update your firm

It all depends on what you needed to declare in the first place. If it is only unspent offences, then you probably don't need to declare this - cautions are spent immediately.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'
  • I am also looking into this web site to find more information. the form you posted there was about whether and what kind of criminal records one needs to disclose when making FCA application. with regard to whether to update FCA about this caution, it falls in Notification of Changes in Personal Information category, for that I think I would need to update the firm first and they will make a decision if they feel the caution has anything significant with my regulated roll and hence inform FCA.

    Am I right?

The police will normally do this based on your job role, there is a specific criteria that the police are updated on a monthly circular, also when being booked in depending on the profession selected this will notify the custody Sargent as to whether your employers need notifying.

If they haven't notified then I would look at the FSA guidelines and your company handbook
