My full mortgage application was submitted on 28th November, and was approved subject to valuation on 11th December. Valuation is booked for this Wednesday. They had a query about my post-retirement income, and asked for another printout from my savings account, which might have added a couple of days to things.0

We did the full application on the 20th November, it went to the underwriters the next day and was approved pending valuation on the 27th November. Valuation and surveys were booked for the 11th December and we're now just waiting for the results of those.
EDIT TO ADD: Just received a call from Natwest to say the valuation has come back satisfactory and they will be sending the mortgage offer in the post0
