Anyone made whoopie pie?

I've been working at home today - a rare quiet treat when I can get lots done. As it's nearly Christmas I lit one of my Yankee Candle votives: it was (still is just now) WHOOPIE PIE. Anyway, it smells divine (sort of toffee chocolately buttery smell) but I had no idea what a WP is.
After a bit of surfing around there are lots of recipes and it looks fab.
Anyone made one?

I have made them. They are very nice but have to be eaten fairly quickly as they go soggy. I have no idea what recipe I used.
I think you can also get a cake mix from Tesco or some where. Might be better on a first attempt.0 -
They're a bit like a mix between a cake and a cookie - cooked in a dish similar to a yorkshire pudding tray, though with wider and shallower 'holes'. They're then sandwiched together with some form of sickly sweet filling in the middle (in America, it tends to be marshmallow fluff - though UK recipes often use flavoured buttercreams)
Very yummy!0 -
I think these would be a lovely alternative treat at Xmas - a change from mince pies etc. maybe Xmas evesomewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0
