Santander (I know, I know)...

This whole process has been long in the extreme (first phone call on the 20th November!), better be worth it in the end.

On the intermediaries site the service page says "processing applications received on day x"

They would have received our signed application on Friday, they've just updated my MATS page today to say it was received. Does that mean that in their system they're considering today to be the "received" date for processing/passing to underwriting?

Just trying to get a handle on when I'll finally be put out of my misery :D

With the Xmas break approaching you may well find progress slow for a couple of weeks.

It'll be even slower if you or the other party are using their recommended surveyor, E.Serv.

    "signed application?

Was it not done online? if a "paper" application and they have received Friday, it means it ws processed to their system today, I would expect it to be underwritten tomorrow, and assuming all payslips etc as likely to be required already supplied it should go straight to valuation, most areas are now reasonably up to date with valuations now (although apparently they are not working for a couple of days next week for some reason?!!) so would not expect any further delay.

It was telephone - I'm a moving A&L customer so ended up being pushed through that route to port my rate. They physically sent the application to us to sign and return, which added another 4 days to the proceedings. It's only just been flagged as received so I'm guessing processed tomorrow and underwritten on Wednesday...

Just to update this, it went from "Application Received 16/12/13, 12:30pm" to underwritten and with the mortgage centre in one fell swoop this afternoon.

Hi, hope your process going smoothly now.

Could I ask you a question please?

I am probably moving next year and as yourself I was with A&L and hoping to port.

How strict have they been with the 90 day /3 month rule?

I'm on a good tracker and don't want to loose it but a little worried that if delays occur during the sale Santander will take the opportunity to get rid of me & my product.

    Cheers.

Hello! Of course. All going smoothly now, thanks. Survey was done on Christmas Eve and got the confirmation email/text that all was well the same day and the offer's in the post.

I was on one of the fixed rates that reverted to the tracker. They did an initial affordability check then said they were willing to offer a Santander mortgage on the same or better terms (essentially the same lifetime tracker but also flexible offset, the additional borrowing at the same rate). The offer's good until June, so I assume the 90 day rule just doesn't apply with the Santander products.

So far as I can tell they seem to vary what they're willing to do port-wise on a customer-by-customer basis (as they tell you what they'll offer after they've done the initial affordability), I was fairly convinced they were going to try and get me off the rate I was on, but it seems not so long as you meet current lending criteria. They certainly didn't have to offer the additional borrowing a the same rate. As to their criteria - complete black box, no idea... Definitely worth giving them a ring, the A&L side of things were very helpful.

Are you talking about not completing your sale and purchase simultaneously? Why?

  • Hi
We too are porting from an alliance and Leicester mortgage to Santander. Done the pre-application and the credit check fine and provided our wage slips too. Do they usually want bank statements as well at the point of completing the full application ?
