I'm not sure if this is the best forum to post on but I'm sure someone will let me know either way!
Got a decision to make and I just don't know what to do so would be grateful of anyone's advise. I currently work for Santander and have had a lot of problems from day one. The two main issues wish underly them all are my boss and my pay. My boss has now left, literally yesterday and my new boss starts Monday. My pay, I have recently been offered a promotion (that was a whole issue as well but long story short, I interviewed for the position and my boss lost the paperwork so I had to do the whole process again!) my new boss who now starts on Monday is working on matching my pay to another job offer I have been given by another company.
This company is vodafone. I have passed all interviews and had my contract sent to me in black and white what my pay is etc.
Now, I need to decide. Vodafone or Santander?
Vodafone benefits - discounts, higher pay (which Santander are trying to match), extra pay for working bank holidays, previously worked for orange so very used to sales targets
Santander - worked there already for a year, banking job perhaps better for the long term?, Sundays and bank holidays off
Please help guys. Wrecking my brain!

If you have had an interview for another job whilst in one already it must have been for one reason only - you hate the one you are in.
If you have just gone for the interview to push the current job for more money this will work only once and you may miss out on a good offer elsewhere.
If current job are trying to match the offer you have on the table, ask yourself this, why are you not already getting this pay? It's mainly because no one wants to pay more than they have to until its too late and they say they are off.
I would take a leap and go for the new job. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hi Kerpowee,
If the only two reasons you were leaving are your boss and the money and they can match it then I think you would already know the answer, so maybe there is something else, if I was you I would make a list of pros and cons for each job, I would include things like:- Travel to each workplace (distance, ease to get to, cost of parking)
- Working hours (start and finish times, breaks)
- Holidays and Bank Holidays (do you have the work BH's? Do you get paid extra if you do?)
- Salary (including possibility of earning bonuses and overtime)
- Job security (if you are out of your probation, this could be a big tick for staying put)
- Possible progression (if this is something you are looking for)
- How your current job/tasks make you feel and how it will differ in the new role.
It might throw up a couple of things you hadn't thought about, hope that helps.0 -
Add to the list of things to consider pension plans ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
