Sorry if I offended anyone

This afternoon I worked my way backwards through a lot of posts and the ones I thought were daily I bumped.

I didn't have time to search each thread and look at the entries and copy and paste where appropriate as I have been out this evening.

I was hoping to be helpful and not let threads get lost and people miss the comp and again hoping that if the thread was of interest to someone that person would paste the advent as the threads I bumped were not ones I was currently following.

I'm sorry that I couldn't have spent longer looking at each one. It wasn't my intention to bump threads that didn't have an advent today, I was purely trying to move up current ones.

I did wonder why I kept getting notifications that threads I was following were being bumped. Personally I think it's best if dailies/Advents are only bumped once, when the new day is ready (if at all) or the boards would become a total mess. A kind thought, but IMHO it's not required. Good Luck with your entries.

One of the rules of the board is not to bump threads. Imo it's fine to bump the advents, but only if there's a new answer needed, or a new link.

Just randomly bumping all advent threads regardless of whether there's been a new comp posted isn't massively helpful - especially when it's just to post the word 'bump' without any links or information.

Might be worth clicking through to the comp to see whether there is anything new to add to the thread rather than just typing the word bump.

*edit* and if you don't have time to click through and check, just leave it for someone else to check, and bump if required.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, i'm sure we have all done or will do something that will nark someone at some point, your intentions were good and yes maybe it isn't best to bump up threads if there is no new information but it's done now and worrying if you have upset anyone won't change it , you put enough effort into the board from what I can tell so i'm sure not too many are going to be too bothered.

I would rather threads were only bumped if they had the full info in personally, whilst I do really appreciate any reminder each day there is probably someone else who would have the time to bump with the full/correct info rather than just bumping any thread regardless of whether it needs bumping or not. Wouldn't say it offends me though.

However what is probably more irritating are the amount of posts bumping up threads posting what has already been posted, often in the previous post by quite a lot of hours previously!

I don't normally subscribe to threads but have for advent purposes and it's a battle to clear them let alone having them bumped again for no good reason.

Some amazing advent bumping though on the whole in general so thanks to those who are involved :T

Seriously - if that's all people have to be offended about, then they live a charmed life.

Your intentions were good, and actually, you did me a favour, because I entered some that I wouldn't normally have entered.

No you definitely didn't offend me, and if anyone DID get offended, then that's their lookout :P. There are many more worthy causes to get offended about than someone trying to help out on a forum.

Agree with Hurdy Gurdy.. it's not like you murdered anyones first born Though on these precious comp boards you can see how people try and make you feel like that :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Exactly, It's a forum after all, people like to chat, If you don't like bumping then just change the way you navigate the boards.

Don't feel bad about it, you never know someone could win because you bumped it. We all make mistakes.
But it does come to mind that for next years advents there may have to be another discussion.
I will try to remember this and mention it then. However thats a year away.
