I enjoyed the series but without the competitive element I found the Christmas special incredibly dull.

I'm afraid I found the entire concept exceedingly dull. They have tried to do for sewing what Bake Off did for home baking. But the big difference is, Bake Off works because even if you're not an aspiring cook, you can imagine eating the food, or enjoy watching a cake collapse etc.

It's just not the same with sewing UNLESS you sew.

    Sorry.... dull, dull, dull!
  • I think the intended audience is sewers. A lot of people are interested in arts and crafts nowadays.

I enjoyed it,thought the gingerbread house was very sweet, was good to see how everyone was getting on, felt like catching up with old friends & I do hope they are all as lovely as they come across in the programme.
    Booo!!!

    I really enjoyed this programme (I am a sew-er and crafter) :)
Mommy to Elliot (5) and Lewis (born xmas eve 11!)
  • I really enjoyed it, and it was lovely to see May and Patrick sew too. I think all four of the contestants are really likeable which makes it all the more enjoyable.
:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator :p

I loved it, I am not a sew-er but I would like to be. I am blind in one eye but I still have a go and have a very ancient singer sewing machine - not even a treadle but one with a winding handle so it is nice and slow.

There is an old fashioned haberdashery shop in my village and I wander in there from time to time. I went in on Wednesday - to find the owner sitting at the table sewing along with various customers who had taken their sewing in too - one was making waistcoats and the other was doing some patchwork. I noticed an offer on some rather expensive mohair/silk wool and there was enough to knit a scarf so I got some to give away as a Christmas present to a friend who is a knitter.
