Have you considered the lightwave rf system for your house appliances.

Allows you to control appliances via an app on your phone - saves ringing the wife! £70 for the control unit and the rest is just plug and play and you can build a system over time and not have to bother with loads of CAT5 cable everywhere!

B&Q sell them so if you know any friendly pensioners they can get you 10% off on a Wednesday!

We've also had the British Gas Hive system installed to control the heating and hot water which is an excellent bit of kit.

Its a new build house and our forever home hopefully so we've decided to get as much kit in as we can to make it as efficient as possible. Also waiting on a batch of Phillip LED GU10's for the kitchen spotlights, already done the bathroom and they are excellent.

Thanks, i'll take a look at that later when i'm home, seems a good idea but it can't unload the washer and put in the next batch, especially when you get a lovely sunny day like today:(

As for LED's, done all the house with them, changed the tv(bigger and less power), washer and dryer and added my last set of panels to make the most of the late evening sun in the summer. Like yourself, this is our forever home(until the next one)

How much washing do you have???

Already had the TV but that was bought because I am a techie geek as opposed to an eco warrior (just so happens that its the best of both worlds). When we moved into the new house we also bought one of the Samsung ecobubble washing machines which are A+++ rated and Mrs C likes it because it sings when its finished.

Clothes come out better at 15oc in from that than they did from our old hotpoint at 40. £600 but a 10 year warranty on the motor. Finding myself buying more and more samsung these days.
