Need to inform lender?

Hi,

My partner and I are buying a new build that was due to be ready end of Jan. This has now been pushed back about 4 weeks.

I'm currently on maternity leave and was due to return to work the second week of Feb when we thought we'd be moved in. But now I'm going to have to extend my maternity leave by 4 weeks.

We've already had our mortgage offer from Nationwide, where I told them my expected return date, and they've had my employer reference.

As the build has now been delayed and I'm extending my maternity leave do I need to inform the lender of this?

Thanks

You will have to tell them of the delay in completion date since they will not need to provide the funds at the same time as they had planned. Cannot imagine that this be an issue for a large lender like NW.

As long as you told the truth as you knew it when you applied I doubt they will be interested in your extended maternity leave unless it means you are unlikely to be able to meet mortgage payments.
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

No it doesn't t have any financial effect on the mortgage at all, thanks for the advice.
