It's a simplistic view, but covers much I feel. Covers my experience anyway. Managers, customers, dodgy equipment, all stuff you can control. Well, a manager either listens to reason or you go elsewhere..

Basically at the moment I'm suffering with anxiety, depression and Aspergers(ASD) , I not too great at multi tasking , crowds of people stresses me out. If I work on my own , I would be so anxious if I was doing the job correctly and things.

Are you registered with Job centre? If so have a chat with the DEA (Disability Employment Adviser). They should be able help and point you in the right direction of dealing with your worries.

    Interesting thread, actually.
I was sort of thinking about something similar, earlier.

I know so many people who spend so much time on facebook writing huge comments and status updates etc all day long, that you know that their job must be a breeze.
I'd love one like that, but due to my lack of qualifications and confidence, i've always chosen physical warehouse work which is often non-stop work, and no time to mess about at work.

I did, however, have one such job when I was younger.
The company was so badly organised that I don't think I had a job title as such, but I mainly had to update an in-house data-base to reflect deliveries that had been made.
I could do my days work in about 2 hours (9 hour shift), and I spent the rest of the day using myspace(like I say it was a while ago!), browsing Ebay, going in extended lunch breaks etc! Boss was hardly ever around.
Only job i've ever liked and also the best paid!!

I'd love to find something similar.

I wonder if there is a certain office role which is always a breeze where you can spend all day mucking about on-line. I wonder what sort of qualification would open the door to such jobs.

Like others have said, finding a job you really love would be the real answer, but i just don't see how that's possible unless you're like, a !!!!!! star or a pro footballer or something!

If you read the 'about me' bit on my profile you'll see that's why i have two jobs.

  • sounds like you would suit a quality tester on a production line.

working alone on a job, but within a community to dip into when you want, repetitive but precise, with support but responsibility, but not too much responsibility.

but, boring, repetitive, not well paid.

might be a good step into work, and grow confidence from there

I would think a routine kind of job that is the same most days would work best for you. I agreee people and phone calls do add the randomness.

What sort of qualifications do you have? Those with aspergers are often very intelligent. My son has aspergers - he has just started a degree in electronic engineering , which contains a lot of logic/programming , which is exactly how his mind works.

My dad was always stressed by life, but really found himself when he took a job as a night clearer in the supermarket, when he could just get on with the job with no interuptions.

Tell us a bit more if you can.

Trust me, you don't want to know! these 'comfy' mind numbing bordering on theft jobs never last, when people need to resort to sitting on the net at work it really is never long before the dole queue is a calling ;) ...no matter how turn a blind eye the employer maybe

I wouldn't class myself as very intelligent . I have done a ECDL course level 2 , good at typing and things like that . Answering the phone I don't like in case they ask me something I don't know .
