Plasma or LED 3d tv help

Hi, bought a 3d Bush tv earlier in the year as Argos reduced them to £240, well it blew up the other day! I'm now hunting for a new 3D tv, not going for a £200 Sainsburys or similar deal but have decided on the next price up. Just found a Samsung 43" Plasma (1080) for around £399, but notice the smaller 40" LED (720) is slightly dearer at £449. What is the difference between Plasma and LED, is the larger Plasma cheaper because it's Plasma? And is 1080 better than 720? Any help appreciated before I take the plunge and buy one.

It comes down to personal preference choosing between Plasma & LCD with LED backlighting. Personally I prefer Plasma because Plasmas usually has the superior picture which looks more realistic and natural looking. Some Plasmas can have some issues such as buzzing and heat, a slightly higher power usage and you do need to be a little careful because they can suffer screen burn in extreme cases. That should not be a problem that it once was. The inherent problem with LCD tech is poor black levels, even now they don't match a good Plasma.

Watch out for the screen coating on either type because your room lighting could be an issue for reflective coatings, especially windows.
