Halifax Mortgage: Mystery Default

Hi All,
I've been on the mortgage process for about 5 weeks now, here is my rough timeline;
Nov: Decision in principle (£158,000 HTB on £208,750)
Nov: Reserved new build
Nov: Applied for mortgage, paperwork required and stamped
Nov: Approved subject to valuation (KFI generated)
Nov: Valued at £208,750 exactly our purchase price (list £212,750)
Nov: Halifax reject stamp duty incentive and ask for revised CML
Nov: Revised CML provided we agree to pay stamp duty
Dec: Offer arrives for £101,000
Dec: Confirm with broker that system has incorrect details revised
Dec: Will only lend 65% LTV instead of 75% - ask for some feedback
Today: Turns out that I apparently have a £4 default that the "senior underwriter" has picked up 5 weeks in...I spoke to the broker and told him I do not have one and produced credit reports from the 3 agencies (all clean) I've sent them to the broker who has faxed them onto the halifax who say it takes 24 hours for the fax to appear.
Has anyone else had a nightmare like this? Our legal searches have kicked off and hoping that it's just a light snag in the journey!

Do you have any accounts with the Lloyds Banking Group? Any accounts you may have gone overdrawn on, old forgotten accounts, credit cards etc?

Hi GMS, no my accounts stay within the limits and haven't had many accounts such as current or credit cards. It's been appealed through the underwriter so fingers crossed, i've asked them to feedback to me directly what the issue is but hoping that a new offer can arrive soon!0

All sorted now, seems like technology is "odd" sometimes as there was nothing there - mortgage approved today offer in the post0
