Hi
I have not long had a mole removed from my face and rally am trying to minimise the scarring, i always scar outwards and someone told me about silicone gel/plasters which help flatten them, the stuff is quite pricey and i was just wondering if anyone knows anything about them coz i dont want to waste my money.
Thnx x

When I had my gall bladder out last year - I bought a small bottle of Bio-Oil from Boots - it was on special offer then, and it is brilliant - I have a teeny weeny scar, and the other ones that the endoscope went in have nearly vanished. I also use it on my stretch marks and they're soooo much smaller now!!!Noli nothis permittere te terere

I had a mole removed from my chest and the really helpful nurses told me to massage moisturiser into the scar regularly - I did this when watching TV etc but every morning and evening I put a gel called "FastAid Scar reduction Gel"
(available in boots) tiny bottle usually with scar reduction plasters etc. After a couple months all you can see is a very faint line no puckering or redness.

I had a breast reduction last year, and was recommended by my surgeon, Alex Karidis, to use Bio Oil on my scars. Also I was given by his nurse at a follow up appointment, Silgel silicone gel sheeting to use. I've had great results - the scars are completely flat and are fading fast.
Who knows, perhaps I would have had good results anyway, but at least I felt I was doing something to maximise my chances:D
I think Bio Oil is a good all round product. I massage it into my face at night (after using Boots Protect and Perfect), and I think it has improved my skin quality. It certainly smells and feels nice, and is very relaxing to use for a facial massage.

I used the Elastoplast Scar Reduction Plasters a few years ago, and they're excellent! It only took a few weeks for my really nasty ugly scar to become almost invisible. However, you have to wear them at least 12 hours a day, so you probably don't want to do that on your face.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

You can use bio-oil as a facial treatment once a week too!
I have a well, not huge, but raised, yeah huge, scar on my forearm. Been using bio-oil for about a year... so far... its faded it.
I love it as a facial treatment though! and a few drops in the bath on special occasions! I mean like, 2 drops, its too expensive to go overboard!0
