I could not guarantee you would be able to. When I went through mine I don't think my accounts was frozen but I had enough cash on me ( well drained the account)0

Ok fair enough. I have work on Friday aswell you see and the order of things at the local courthouse is arrive at 10 with paperwork to have it checked etc then go away and come back again at 2pm but I start work at 2pm!0

A little update, mostly for anyone going BR in the future who may stumble across this thread. Barclays shut down my internet & telephone banking today and allowed me to keep my bank account. I'm over the moon that I didn't have to faff about with having to open another account, IMO Barclays are superstars when it comes to having a basic bank account although it would make sense to allow internet banking to manage your finances - ah well, I will have to take a trip down to the cash machine when I want to check my balance but I could do with shifting an inch from my post christmas butt!0

Ask for weekly paper statements..and it should be possible to get a balance over the phone.No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0
