Cut in FITS coming in January

Hi,
I have just been quoted for a solar PV system and am being told that the feed in tariff income of 14.9p will be cut in January and I must install the system now to save. Is this correct? The ofgem table (which I can't post a link to as im a new user!)seems to say they are frozen until end of march 2014.
I have been told that as they havent been cut for two quarters they will be cut in the third quarter.
I want solar but dont want it to be installed over christmas!
thanks
Rob.

One quick call to Ofgem would answer you....0

I have tried calling but it seems impossible to speak with anyone at ofgem! I go round in circles to automated messages etc!0

If i remember correctly only very large installs will be affected by the decrease, i believe anything up to 10kWp the rate will stay the same until april 1st next year. Thats what my father was advised for his planned install in the new year.

Hiya Rob, this is my understanding:-Martyn1981 wrote: »Little bit of trivia for you.
1.The current subsidy rate (14.9p) won't be reduced on 1/1/14 as the amount of installs in the quarter July to Sept wasn't high enough to trigger a degression.
2. The next date for degression is 1/4/14 and will based on the current qtr (Oct to Dec) but since it will also be 9 months since the last degession, and the rules are that one must take place every 3 qtrs, expect a 3.5% reduction.
3. Installs before the end of 2013 qualify for an inflation uplift in Apr 14, but those taking place between Jan and end of Mch 2014 don't (for that year, not subsequent years), so will effectively be about 2.5% less after uplift.
Hope this makes sense, after April there will be those with 14.9p+inf (install prior to 2014), those with 14.9p (install 2014 before April), and those with 14.9p-degression (after April 2014). [Plus of course, everyone who already has an install, on whatever rate]
None of these changes are really large enough to warrant rushing, but thought best to say just in case you had options and decided to 'leave it till after Xmas' deliberately.

Thought I should do some homework and put some meat on the bones.
Here's the PV FiT table going up to the end of Mch 2014 and confirming the 14.9p rate:

and here's a DECC factsheet on inflationary uplifts:

Please note:-- installations with eligibility date between 1 April-31 December receive RPI adjustment from 1 April of the next FITs year
- installations with eligibility date between 1 January – 31 March receive RPI adjustment from 1 April in the following FITs year

Is the eligibility date the date of install, the date of submitting fit application or the date application is eventually processed and approved?0

After discussions on another thread it would seem that now depends on your FIT provider.2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -

It's option 3 .... sort of. It's when they've received a complete and correct application. Technically it's the later of the commissioning date or receipt by the FiT licensee which for many e-mailing in an app might be the same day.
Sorry to be pedantic, it's just that approval may be some time later (or not) depending on their processing times.
For anyone worried about a deadline date, they should ring the FiT provider when they think the app will have arrived, and ask them to go through it on the phone, there and then - you may need to sweet talk them a bit, but explain you're a little worried. That way if there are any errors, omissions etc, you can get on it right away, so as to trigger the date on which 'a complete form has been received and noted'.
For my extension, just a few days before the end July 2012 deadline, I e-mailed it in, then rang them as soon as I got a delivered receipt - don't forget to pop a read and a delivered receipt request on the e-mail.
Not sure if this is clear, having trouble getting the wording right.
