Hi Westy Woodpecker - Yes, I'm from the Fylde Coast - although I'm from Yorkshire originally and everyone spots my accent straight away!
There's nothing like a bowl of homemade soup on a cold day - I've used this recipe - and just bunged other things in too!
You can also make a great stew - I use tinned stewing steak complete with all the gravy. It's a lovely meal - cheap and dead easy to make.
Keep laughing!0 -
Hi,
The frugal person in me would like to know how economical a soup maker is over using a cooker? I'm toying over the idea of getting a soup maker, but if it uses no more energy than my electric hob and blender, then obviously I don't want to go out spending unnecessary money.January Grocery Challenge 2016 = £119.41/£250.00
Weekly Savings Challenge 2016 = £364.31/£1378.00 26.44%
Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge 2016 #9 = £13.88/£500 2.34%
£2 Savers Club 2016 #26 = £140/£500 28%
1% challenge 2016 = £100 Total saved £100/£10,000 1%0 -
I love my soup maker and I use t every week, usually more than once. I have just eaten a bowl of cauliflower, broccoli and boursin soup...yummy.
I have a Cuisinart which I love but was quite expensive. I saw one recently that looked almost the same but was another make that was less than half price, just can't remember where though.
I wouldn't be without mine now for sure.0 -

It's really quick as smooth soup takes 21 minutes & chunky soup 28 mins. It's simple to use, easy to clean & keeps hot in the container for ages.
I was worried that it would end up in the back of a cupboard (with the bread maker) but no way. I made tomato soup tonight which was yummy
I honestly cannot see me buying tinned soup again.
Reviews are excellent for this & I honestly can see why.
HTH'S Westy
Just seen your recipe Bluesky1 & it was much the same as I used. Your from Fleetwood/Cleveleys then?
Does this one cook everything in the soup maker too? sorry if I am being silly the description does not say0 -

I made mushroom soup today. Chopped mushrooms/onion/garlic and added stock, cream & threw in. Added hot water to max level and programmed for smooth (21 minutes).
Went upstairs to get ready for work, 20 mins later hot soup ready :j
DH taking leftovers to work [STRIKE]tomorrow[/STRIKE] later. Really cheap meal & you know what's gone in it.
I wouldn't want anyone to take it off me now :rotfl:Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker0 -
I love my soup maker just find it a faff to clean sometimes I have the kettle style one. When you clean it you have to be so careful not the get the fittings wet and if you forget to clean it it can be a nightmare job. If i had the choice i would have saved longer and bought the more exspensive style.
Love having soup in a few short minutes with no stirring on keeping an eye on it though.0 -
I bought a Giles & Posner soup maker from Robert Dyaz about 2 weeks ago when it was on offer, and with a code from here.
I've made soup every other day, and love it. I am a bit of a kitchen gadget geek, but I know that along with my slow cooker this is going to get a lot of use. As it's only a bit bigger than a kettle, I've managed to find a home on my work top for it, and will use up any sad & tired veggies to make soup every week.
Starting my diet in 2014, so at least I will know exactly what does into the soup, and as it will make a puree or chunky, I think a chunky veg soup will make me think I'm eating more than I am!!! Just have to lay off the bread!
It also has an auto clean button on it, which makes it easy and fast to clean, just needs a good wipe after using this programme.
A good Xmas pressie to myself!:j:j0 -

Clothes Golden Rule: Never pay full price unless it is an utter bargain in the first place!
Sales, boots, charity shops, ebay- why would anyone ever pay full price for anything??!0
