Added another £250 to savings for Feb.
I'll add the bulk to my total at the end of the year as I'm letting it build up in my 5% current account.2022. 2% MF challenge. £730/30000 -

As I have a lot of money in my student account (I get all my loans/grants at the same time), would it make sense to transfer a lot more to the savings account (so I'm making at least some interest on it) and sort of "pay" myself monthly into my student current account?
Yes, that would be a really good move. See if you can open a savings account with your same bank and then you can just shift the money across online from one account to the other as required.Mortgage

Thank you. My savings account is with the same bank as my student account, and there are no penalties for transfers, so this should workSave 12k in 2014: n. 104, goal £4k, achieved £4000

My February total is £510 which is more than my target but I'm actually disappointed as I feel I've been a bit frivolous with money this month. I have my hair cut and colour this month too which might stretch me a bit, hopefully going to be working some more hours this month to add up to the total. We'll done to everyone else who has stuck to the good work!Save 12k in 2014 challenge:#09 - £1,560/£7,5000

I'm number 153 in this challenge....
Since my husband lost his appeal against the withdrawal of his ESA, life has got a whole lot tougher, and my target of £9000 is now looking laughably optimistic! Just keeping our heads above water is hard enough at the moment, but having said that, I had a good clear out in the loft and sold a ton of vintage clothes, shoes and handbags that I'd picked up for pennies at jumble sales and car boots over the past decade or so. I managed to raise £500 in total which I transferred to our savings account on March 1st, taking me to a total of £1660 for the year to date. I may need to dip into it, but the longer I can leave it untouched, the better!Save £12k in 2014 - No. 153 - £1900/£9000

Do any of you guys invest in stocks?
I've got some money in a savings account and Im thinking of stocks but I don't really know where to start.
I know I need a broker and I've heard of a couple but that's about it.
Just wondering what sort of % anyone here have earned0 -

It only pays 1% interest but as a full time student (ie some current accounts with better interest out of my reach) saving for the first time (wasn't sure how well I'd do) I only thought about a convenient way to put money aside rather than the best interest rate.
Hi Lavenderlover I've just opened a Nationwide flex account that pays 5% on up to £2.5k It might be of use to you. It's the best rate I can find at the moment.0
