Sorry you've had such a rubbish one Becky :( it's rubbish that you've had that unexpected bill.

Try not to let the money stuff get you down- onwards and upwards?

Hope you and OH can get over your argument and that's one less thing to worry about.

    Thank you JoJo :)

    I'm a bit embarrassed now reading back my self-pitying / self-indulgent post - I'm usually a very positive person!

You are absolutely right - onwards and upwards. I remember someone posting on this thread earlier about unexpected expenses and saying at least we have the savings to pay them and not having to rely on a credit card! Too true!

I'm feeling much better now - thinking up money-making ways to make it up. Sold a pair of shoes on gumtree for £20 yesterday, so that's a small start! :D

Oh, don't be silly Becky! We all have down days-don't be embarrassed. We've got to have the bad so we can appreciate the good :)

You're right about the positive being not getting into debt to fund these things, so keep the positive head on!

Well done for selling the shoes! That's £20 more than you had last week so it's a good start.

I've not really saved anything in the last week...counting down to pay day next week!

I had an unexpected visitor this week, a DWP officer who came to check my income and benefits. She wanted to see everything, bank statements, savings, stocks and shares, kids accounts ect. Turns out I am £300 over the £6k savings cap and she advised me to 'get rid' of it so I payed my credit card off for the car repairs this month. Not sure what to do this month as I'll go over again...I'll think of something ;) just means savings will be put on hold until then :(:(

Nightmare nat. I actually thought the cap was higher but that is maybe just in my circumstances. Keep it under the mattress!
