Just my second post since joining and it's all about savings, so good start I guess.
Well since I only work part-time, I reckon I can only realistically save £2000 out of my salary by the end of this year. Please SF can you add me if it's not yet too late? Thanks!0 -

Hello!!
Delighted to say that I got paid yesterday!! I was down to £25 in my current account and things were getting a bit hairy!
Today is my last day of work before I start my new job on Monday, so I got 4 and a half days pay on top for leave that I hadn't used. I also got £66 mileage payment, so I got about £350 more than I usually get in my pay!
I also got a really generous leaving gift of all my fave crisps and sweets in a bag along with £60 in a card from my team. I'm gonna put that towards a new outfit for some summer weddings that I have! And the treats will be used on OH and I's movie nights for about 3 months probably! So that will also save us a bit of cash!
Also, I discussed the £1500 that I should owe OH for the car we bought on 2 Jan and he said to forgot about it and just concentrate on putting that money away into savings! So at the moment, it is looking like I will £1000 left after bills this month to save. Which is amazing for me considering that my monthly target is currently £500!
And on top of all of this good luck, my new job is a £5000 pay rise on my current salary, so I'm feeling very hopeful for saving in 2014 after a hairy January!!Save 12k in 2014 (my target: £10 000):
My savings: £4878.54/£7000
Joint account savings: £2685.57/£3000

Managed to save £200 in January, a little behind to reach my £3k target by the end of the year, but my last finance payment on my car is July, so hoping to put away some larger sums at the back end of the year, also had car service & MOT this month (£265) and also not been required in my second job this month, so another £200 down so quite pleased really all things consideredEmergency Savings Fund - £11002015 Mortgage overpayments = £0

We ended up saving £1,073.73 in January. Am very happy with this amount, especially since it doesn't include a ~£100 amount which we'll get back next month (via a healthcare cash plan).0

My January is left at £760 although I could have made that up to £1000 I am not too sure where to put the remaining £240 for the time being. I would normally put it into Premium Bonds but as I anticipate having to cash some existing bonds in to pay for my solar panels, I didn't see the point in this particular month. I am also very wary of the future of my employment so don't want to tie too much money away long-term as I will need it in the medium term if tshtf. Maybe things will look up but it's feeling pretty gloomy at the moment.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14
