  • Just had a major savings boost. OHs parents have given us £5k today. Can't believe it! The majority of this will be put into savings. I need to dicuss with OH first. Once I allocate I will update my total.

Another £1000 in for me for August. September will be tight as I have house insurance and decorating bills, but still on target I think.

I'm not sure how much I'm putting away for September. I am still considering moving house next year so I don't know whether to save or stay put or spend some money to do up the house a bit.

I'd be inclined to suggest doing the house up a bit; sprucing the place up might help you make the decision on whether to stay put or not, and if you decide not to stay the sprucing up might help improve the offers you get on your place when you put it up for sale! :)

And you get the benefit of living in a nice smart house for a year or so!

  • Payday today... So declaring £600 for August. :) Not bad considering we've had a busy summer with lots of trips and treats!
Still needing to catch up if I'm going to hit my target, but with my Birthday and a crazy amount of overtime being offered for next month I'm hoping for a whopper September savings!!
    Hope everyone is well!

It's really hard to know how much I've saved this year (or will save). I have less money now than I did in January but I've paid my rent up until mid-November. Also, I'll be switching from being paid 3 months in advance to being paid monthly in arrears soon, which effectively leaves a month's income gap. Fortunately my net salary will increase by ~£5.5k but my council tax bill will also go up by ~£1k.

    I can't save £12k in 2015 but I think I'll aim for £9k. :D
