White tracksuit top washed with jeans

Options
I don't know whether it's possible to sort this problem or not, but if anywhere has a solution it will be here.

My son has washed a white Adidas tracksuit top (hideous thing) with his jeans. I'm sure you can imagine the result. Is there anything I can do to get the blue out of it? I would have considered bleach, but it has green stripes down the arms.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • There is a product by Dylon that's a colour run remover - I've used it previously when I accidentally washed a bright pink chinese brocade top with DH's white work shirts  It got that out :)http://www.dylon.co.uk/product.php?alias=colour-run-removers

I've used colour run remover, with varying degrees of success, I think maybe it depends on the fabric. Definitely worth a try though, it can't make it any worse!

Otherwise, sounds like the 'hideous thing' might only be fit for the bin ;)

sounds like bin food to me too :p I hate the nasty things too.

the run removers are pretty good and lets face it.. these tops are plastic they don't absorb dye like cotton ones do.

Thanks everyone. I'll give that a try but won't be heartbroken if it doesn't work. Sod's law it's his "favourite" sports top.

Unless you want to commit to the new colour and improve it with a dye to make the colour even and intentional looking.

colour run remover will work - I've used it a couple of times. I found it works best if you can re-wash before the stain dries in. So I always keep some on hand. otherwise, just keep the items soaking in water until you can get some.

If it doesn't work, you (or he?!) could dye it dark green, navy or black.

Any dying to be done he can do himself! I'll help out if I can, but there's nothing to stop him sticking some dye in the washing machine.

Actually, there is. I can hear the phone call now: "Mum, all my clothes are grey. Can you fix them . . ." :rotfl:
