Sainsburys online shopping

Hi all,
I had a voucher for £15 off a £60 spend for grocery delivery from Sainsburys so thought I'd give it a try.
My shopping has just been delivered and I'm a bit surprised to see that all of the chilled items I ordered have a best before date of the 13th December. Is this pretty standard? I'm not quite sure how I'm going to use the meals before Friday and didn't really expect to have to freeze them.
Am I being fussy?
Thanks :-)

I've had problems with dates on my shopping from Sainsburys a few times e.g. milk that goes out of date the next day (and I won't drink it out of date even if it seems OK because of my migraines). The pickers are supposed to select what they would choose for themselves, i.e. products with long dates. I've called to let them know about the short dates and they usually offer a refund for those items. I've called a few times about milk and I know they've spoken to the store, and I've haven't had a problem for several weeks now.
Hope that helps.0 -
Thanks for your reply. That's awful about the milk, I'm pretty sure nobody would want to drink out of date milk.
I've just noticed the cellophane is all ripped on the top of the cottage pie I ordered too so will only be fit for the bin. I've just emailed Sainsburys, I wonder what they will say.0 -
Of course they should deliver things with a longer shelf life, but there's nothing wrong with milk that's a bit out of date - if it smells OK and tastes OK, it is OK. I only avoid it nowdays because anything slightly to do with 'old' milk (cheese, fromage frais etc.) triggers a migraine so I stick to the new stuff, just in case.
I would call Sainsburys - they've always been very helpful when I've had an issue. There's a number on the top of the delivery receipt.0 -
Sainsburys have very generous sell by dates on their foods ie they are well within the safe dates to use. Your delivery sheet will list any items near sell by date so you can refuse the item and be refunded on delivery. Likewise if any items are damaged on receipt you can choose to return, sometimes the driver can let you keep the item f.o.c. if its say a slightly seeping milk bottle or similar. They are also eager to keep customers happy so a ring to the number at the top of the receipt if you have a problem.0
