Bankruptcy advice

Hi, I hope someone can help (if this is the right forum).
My wife's ex-husband has applied for bankruptcy. Technically he is still on the title deeds/mortgage for this house (we cannot afford to change it) but has not lived here for 6/7 years.
He has never paid the mortgage or any money at all (including maintenance). He lives in a house his grandad left to his dad (therefore not in his name) rent free, whilst this is still our family home (2 kids etc).
How do we stand regarding the bankruptcy and this house (there is little or no equity in it and it is a shared ownership with the inlaws).
As I said it is our family home, not his - he is happily living rent free and not (and never has) paying anything at all.
Any help would be appreciated (my wife and her ex have had a land registry letter today but she's not in to open it - I would like some help as I know it will cause stress).
We cannot afford solicitors and will not get legal aid, so we are pretty stuck.

Once the BR petition is stamped, the Official Receiver will seek to realise any of the Ex's assets.
The OR will look to see if the EX has any share, [beneficial interest] in the property.
From what you say, regarding the level of equity existing, and the amount of time the Ex has been absent [and not contributing] I don't think you have anything to be concerned about. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0
