DBS/CRB - Help

I have just been offered a new job in the financial services sector, they require a basic disclosure DBS (formally CRB) check.

When I was around 14/15 (almost 30 now) I was cautioned or warned over an small incident but don't recall if it was just a warning or a caution.

I used to work for a school and a college in their IT department and as part of these roles, I had to have enhanced CRB checks, these checks didn't show anything and were all clear.

My question is, now it's for the financial sector and not education, will a basic disclosure revel this past event? Is the disclosure different for the position applied for?

They are doing a basic disclosure, my point is, I've had previous enchanted checks that have always come back 100% clear.

The question I ticked no to asked "Have you ever been convicted of any offence including convictions spent under the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1947" I have never been convicted of anything, this was just a caution/warning as a 15 year old minor.

Does this mean they are only asking about convictions or everything such as warnings/cautions.

TIA

  • Basic checks only show up UNSPENT cautions and convictions. Prior to early 2006, the police were able to delete records entirely after a certain period, depending on the nature of the offence. Your offence (s) have either been deleted or were not recorded in the first place. So, i can only assume you are one of the lucky few as your enhanced check came back clear :D;)

Thank you, I have had two enhanced checks in the last 5 years, both came back with 'None Recorded' under all the headers.

It was only the one caution/warning.
