Post Work Programme Appointment

Just looking for some advice.
I have an appointment at the jobcentre with my post work programme adviser.
This appointment is later today (11th December).
I have just been called to say there is a family emergency 200 miles away from where I live, I don't live near the rest of my family for many reasons but in these circumstances I was the only person I could contact.
I have had to say as yet I am unsure if I am unable to attend as I don't know what happens if I don't attend my appointment at the job centre.
Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks

At a guess depends what the emergency is and if they think its a valid reason for not turning up all providing also that you do tell them first thing in the morningWe’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

My grandfather has suffered a severe heart attack, my grandmother is dead and my mother is in Australia on honeymoon with her new husband.

Hopefully you have already called and they have agreed to move the appointment. Wishing your grandfather well.
Take care.0
