Long story short......
Worked for Her Maj for nearly twenty years. Medically discharged due to being mad. Blah blah blah. Currently in ESA support group and benefits guaranteed until end of next year.
Don't want to sit on my hoop and convince myself I am a gipper and am now ready to start dipping my toe in.
Have found some voluntary work which I am ready/prepared to do. Have told DWP and they are happy/weren't really bothered and told me my benefits won't be affected. Not emotional either way tbh. Want to get back to work and not kick the !!!! out of the benefits system just because I can.
Now, want to do some training. What is here out there for me in the way of funding etc from the DWP? Seen exactly what courses I want to do.
Who do I ask, how do I go about doing them, getting funding? Local college/adult education centre website says there is concessionary rates available but when you look at whom qualifies those in the WRAG get discount, support group don't? !!!!!!? BUT I WANT TO WORK NOW!
Is there maximum retraining budget per person? Is it done case by case? Will be under £1k but what I will save them from being proactive, it makes financial sense to the DWP/tax payer. I'll also be paying tax again. Win/win for the DWP/tax payer.
Ideas? HELP!

And I have googled every combination using words such as ESA/training/retraining etc etc and despite what I thought was the Governments pledge to get me/us back to work, I can't really find anything useful. there again, I am new to this so don't know if I should be using a special phrase/DWP LINGO:beer:0

Speak again to your local FE College as there may be other funding available which is not related to the benefits you are on. For most funding though it needs to be JSA or ESA (WRAG) as these are seen as the most active, work ready ones for whom a bit of training will plug the gap to getting employment.0
