Hotel Living bedding from Achica/Bad Smell

Hi

Not sure if this is the right board to post this on,bought 1000TC bedding from Achica about 3 weeks ago, wondered if anybody else bought it?

The smell when I opened the packaging wasn't great so I washed the duvet cover as per the washing instructions and when I opened the washing machine the smell was awful, like a chemical smell coming from the machine AND on the duvet,it was a similar smell to when I first opened the packaging but MUCH worse.

I dried the duvet and the smell doesn't seem to be there now,but when I've used the washing machine since, everything else has the same awful smell now,I think it's ruined my washing machine.

Has anyone else bought this bedding at all ?

TIA

I returned the bedding to them today & asked who the manufacturer is as there's nothing on the labels of the bedding and Google wasn't helping, but Achica won't tell me.This is their reply.

Unfortunately I am unable to give out manufacturer details, but I have passed your information onto our buying team who will be able to advise me of the best way to proceed.

You aren't entitled to know who the manufacturer is as your contract is with the retailer you bought the goods from.

I 'think' it is because Achica do a 'TK MAX' on some lines and have the 'designer' goods made for themselves. There are lots of btands on the site I have never seen anywhere else, and neither has google. It makes a mockery of the RRP if they are the only seller, and only sell reduced items. I have no evidence for this, purely my own speculation. Good luck with washing machine.

My partner did wonder if they were made for them too as it's odd there is no manufacturer labels, address or anything on the bedding or the packaging to say where they came from so to speak.

A place to avoid I think in the future, thank you.
  • to get rid of the smell in your machine put half a small bottle of white vinegar in the liquid draw and do an empty wash on 60degrees
