And no she can't get JSA while doing it but that's because they would normally be paying the apprenticeship MW.
Yes & no, it's not an "apprenticeship" in the way most people will be familiar, but it's the parlance for the training involved in becoming a tattoo artist. It's the term that's been applied to it for years so isn't the "college & work based qualification" which you'd see from an apprenticeship. It's the tattoo artist version of paying your dues, probably of questionable legality no doubt, but it's the best way of getting into the business.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -
Have to echo other posts here.
1. It is not a recognised apprenticeship so she should be getting NMW for a start as she is an employee.
2. What is the £3k for, is this formal?
3. She is not eligible for JSA.
4. Other apprenticeships (meaning real ones) dont get help with lunches or travel per say either.0 -
3 years full-time to learn to be a tatoo artist??? Sorry, don't want to undermine the business, but that does sound like a lucrative way to employ someone to work and getting money for it...0

Sorry to but in this thread but do you still get JSA if you're doing a course that's 16 hours or less a week ?
Yes if you're not being paid, you can do any course that is 16 hours or less
In relation to the thread, if she's only doing 3 days as it is anyway, why doesn't she spread the hours out and just do 16 hours? That way she can carry on.Save, save, save, save.0
