So the future MIL has been saving towards the wedding with one of those teramundi jars and DF thought it was time to count it all up today before we headed home (brilliant timing I think you'll all agree). Well it was certainly worth it because there was £862 in there! Adding that to what we've saved, plus the £1000 that future FIL has saved, means we have £5587 in the wedding fund now. Because of this, DF is looking at wedding venues as we speak and talking about getting married in October!
Guess I need to get a move on with the weight loss then!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Eeeeeeeek how exciting!!!!
I loved wedding planning but ours ended up costing a !!!!!!! fortune!
Wouldn't have changed any of it tho was the best day ever.
So October then, still gives you plenty of time so you can do it.

Happy New Year everyone! We went to the pub with a couple of friends, thought it was going to be a bit of a bust but it ended up being a really good night! Nothing too wild or crazy mind you. Usually we go for a country walk on new year's day but as the weather was rubbish, we went to see Anchorman 2 instead (courtesy of an Odeon gift card from DF's dad). Wasn't too impressed if I'm honest but it was entertaining I guess.
DF really does have the wedding bug, he's made and appointment for us to see a venue on the 11th! I think he's been inspired by Don't Tell the Bride and thinks he can arrange the whole thing. He's even set me the task of creating my guest list over the weekend. I thought it was brides that were supposed to be the driving forces behind wedding organisation?!?
On the money side of things, it's the 3rd of the month and I've managed 3 NSD's so far! Quite proud of myself and of course the day isn't over yet but I think I can get through the rest of the day ok.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Argh! It's been a month since I updated this! Oh better late than never!
January has been an awful month; work was really stressful and this week I've been doing 9 hours + a day plus a 3 hour round trip commute has not been fun. I feel like I haven't stopped as OH has had us booked in to view wedding venues every weekend since Christmas but it's paid off because we've found 'the one'. Don't want to revel too much till we've signed the contract on Monday but safe to say it's gorgeous and fits in with the general budget we had in mind.
As it's the start of a new month; lets see what the state of the Igloo is now:
Money: January was a bit of a bust. Not really too sure why but I've updated my budget but February is going to be really tight. As I'm leaving my job in March (the 7th to be exact!) I have to surrender my annual season ticket before I leave. However when I originally got the loan from work, they messed up my repayment plan and consequently I'm a month behind on my payments. However I think if I surrender it tomorrow and declare it Monday, I might not have to pay too much extra. It does mean I have to pay £250 to get to work and the electricity bill has just come in for the quarter. Once I've paid it though, I'm going to switch to direct debit as it will just make it so much easier. There is no room for error this month I need to stick to my budget.
Credit Card: Balance stands at £220.56 and I really want to get this paid off before the end of April as that's when the 0% interest period ends. Have budgeted £75 this month to take me down to £145.56 and then I might be able to pay it off in full next month. Hopefully.
Overdraft: £672.28 as it stands. I know it's supposed to be going down but it's like my emergency fund to get me out of tight spots (like having no food in the cupboard!). Will concentrate on this when the credit card has gone.
Weightloss: Well I'm down from my 1st January weigh in. Was 12 st 8 lbs and as of last Monday I was 12 st 4 lbs. Weigh in is again on Monday and we'll see what happens. I've been following the slimming world plan and it's working but I did have a cheat week and a couple of cheat days recently so I've not lost as much as I hoped. Going to start working out this week too in order to help things along.
Toiletries: Managed to not buy anything in January and used up 14 items! Have to buy some more Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair this month as I can't do without it because my skin is a bit fussy to say the least! Currently watching some on ebay so that if I can get it cheaper than the RRP I'll be a happy bunny!
Savings: Had to raid the VSP but have kept up the Sealed Pot when I've had change. Will have to put savings on the back burner till I start my new job and have a bit more breathing space in my budget!
I think that's it for today. Well it's official, we've booked our wedding! As you can see from my signature we're going for the 29th October next year. It's a Thursday so we get a cheaper rate on most things and we're not bothered about the day of the week anyway. Plus it's an excuse for our friends to have a long weekend! Deposit is paid for the venue and the registrar so if nothing else, we're definitely getting married on that date!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170
