i dont think wp pay child care , they will really not be bothered if you have a child or not . If you cant make one of the appointments or courses you will get sanctioned

Well what do they expect me to do with him? I can't leave him at home on his own, he will just have to come with me if the appointment is outside of school hours.

the WP have to pay child care. You have to provide an invoice or receipt.

He is six, why does his age effect anything?

Because you could be a lone parent with a 15 year old and the approach would be entirely different.

Your travel should be reimbursed by the WP. If they are 'nice' they will try to arrange your appointments to marry up with job centre appointments. During school holidays you're likely to have a telephone contact. You will also be identified as 'with restrictions' in terms of suitable jobs/availability of hours/availability of times.

I'm not aware of child care ever being paid for by the WP. Btw, the WP cannot sanction anyone - only the job centre can.

I think you've got a long long way to go before anyone will try to force you to do a work placement and certainly unsuitable work placement when you have a 6 year old child.

    WP Provider Guidance states:

    wp-pg-chapter-8.pdf

"a Lone Parent who has a child aged 12 or under, has the right to restrict their availability for work to school hours if they wish. Restricting their availability to school hours only applies to term time."

I think most basic WP guidance rules have been copied from DWP, as any sanctions are imposed by DWP.

WP Provider would have to take into account your childcare responsibilities in dealing with you.

Work Programme Providers can refer claimants to a Labour Market Decision Maker for sanctioning if the claimant fails to fulfill any mandated activity, the same applies to Jobcentre Plus advisers.

Neither the WPP or JC advisers can impose a direct sanction, but both can raise a compliance doubt to the LM DM who will, in most cases, sanction the claimant.

i wouldn't count on it , from my own experience and research on the wp they do anything they can to get you sanctioned .
