yes but you still have to be actively seeking work in the meantime. Don't tell the jobcentre about the job until it's time to start the job and sign off.
  • Thank you :) does that apply even if it's the partner on the claim?

Do tell the jobcentre about the job. Why would you not? I've signed on a few times with a job lined up and all it means is that you won't get hassled about your job search.
  • It's my claim, hubby has been having trouble with his manager and gross misconduct disciplinary started. He's found a new job but it doesn't start til the end of Jan. Old job said if he resigned without notice they'd give basic ref with no disciplinary mentioned so he could get the new job, it's all being processed. But it's still several weeks til he starts so I have to add him to my claim.. Will him having something lined up be a problem? How do I best explain it to reduce my claim being sanctioned?

The new job isn't a problem. You only have to be available for work today, not tomorrow, to claim JSA. The jobcentre will know that he'll only be looking for temp work and they'll be fine with that.

The circumstances of leaving the old job are the problem but others are better placed to give advice on that. Will his previous employer say that he left because his contract ended?
  • Haven't asked them tbh. The majority of things I read (and was told in the jobcentre when I set up my claim) was that as it was my claim and we have a toddler, he would be the childcare and I'd be the jobseeker so we'd avoid the sanctions altogether, but change of circumstance form has office check boxes for sanctions
